Dr. Walter George Zemel, MD

I was referred to Dr. Zemel by my GP for a non-surgical ENT matter. I read the other reviews and many people stated the receptionist (the doc. wife, btw) was "rude". I did not have that problem. First, a real person (her) answered the phone which is rare these days. Second, I was able to easily make an appointment that fit my schedule. Third and final, the receptionist is just that, she makes appointments and deals with other office matters. She doesn't have to be Mrs. Personality or super chatty. If people were not so sensitive and judgemental, they would not jump all of her and call her out as rude. Perhaps she is not super friendly but who cares. As far as Dr. Zemel, he genuinely listened to me, give his medical advice, and addressed my concerns to the best of what is available and possible medically. Like any other doctor, they are not miralce workers, he isn't going to magically fix every issue perfectly or have answers to every little thing. Yes he is older but I like… someone with lots of experience. I am surprised how people can be so nasty in their reviews without thinking objectively. He has done a lot of good for many people and of course, there will always be patients that do not get their problems resolved adequately. This is why they call the medical profession, a practice, and it is just that, nothing more.

Very good doctor

I was recommended to Dr. Zemel by my family doctor to deal with some ear issues. During surgery I was awakened and told the surgery could not be done because there was an obstruction in my throat and the breathing tube could not be placed properly. Dr. Zemel attempted to do a biopsy without anesthesia and I stopped the procedure. I left and contacted an ENT at Univ. of Penn hospital. I explained my issues and he was appalled at the attempted biopsy procedure by Zemel. He put me under anesthesia and performed the biopsy. Fortunately it was benign. I would never trust Dr. Zemel again.

The secretary (which is his wife) is very rude and nonprofessional.

I think there's something majorly wrong with the receptionist she was incredibly rude even though my insurance company said and gave me the number of this doctor when I called make the appointment she went over all the information with me and when I told her what insurance I had she said "we're not taking that " but the way she said it she acted like she was choosing not to take me but will take the insurance. Very hard to explain the way she flipped a switch in her attitude. I told her that my insurance company said that they were accepting the insurance. she said" we appreciate that" and hung up on me. WHAT!!

I would steer clear of this doctor. The receptionist is obviously mentally unstable and extremely rude. In this day and age, you never know what this kind of person would do, and I wouldn't want to be around to find out!

Dr Zemel was wonderful. My daughter had been fighting a tonsil infection for 6 months. the infection came back every time she had finished a prescriptions. Dr Zemel was the only doctor who took time and listened to everything she said and prescribed medication that finally got rid of the infection.

waist of time- place is filthy

Dr Zemel was what all doctors should strive to be. He was prompt, kind, thorough in his examination and took his time to listen and to talk to us. We felt comfortable and confident that we had come to the right person. He assured us that he would get to the bottom of the problem. We highly recommend him to anyone needing his specialties. He's one in a million and they just don't make them like him any more!

Dr. Zemel has very poor bedside manners and was very impolite. I had to switch to a different doctor. The receptionist seemed she didn't really know what she was doing and she was also noy very polite. I had to wait 45 minutes before he saw me. In my opinion I DO NOT recommend this doctor he needs to retire.
