Dr. Warren Appleman, MD

Unless you want to be verbally abused and insulted, steer clear of Dr. Warren Appleman. He literally throws temper tantrums and has a severe anger management problem. If you're on an Obamacare plan such as NY State of Health which makes access to specialists next to impossible, Appleman will ridicule you for not being able to find a retina specialist, or whatever specialist you might need. If he's in a lousy mood, he'll skip dilation, which is essential to any exam. At one point, he grabbed my eyeglasses off my face so quickly and without warning that his knuckle pressed into my eyeball. But it's the verbal cutdowns and disrespectful raising of his voice that's over the top. Even if he were a great doctor that wouldn't be acceptable. But his level of care is marginal at best. Dr. Appleman should not be practicing.

Dr. Appleman has beenmy opthamologist for over forty years, through all his changes to different offices. He spotted my Macular Degeneration in its very early stages, and because of this I still have vison.

An arrogant, uncaring doctor with a horrible temper. Also very sloppy work, as his handling of the eye during the exam can hurt beyond the day you see him. ZERO follow through, as I was left hanging with severe pain and an eye infection. When reached on his service, his response was to hang up and answer that he had no time for me.
