Dr. Warren Keith James, MD

Dr James is the best in his field in Fort Collins, CO. He explains things well, looks after us (his patients) with care and concern, and gives us options for care and follow-up for procedures. I would highly recommend him, but he is retiring at the end of this year.

Very business minded. Strongly encouraged c-sections, because that is what worked best with his schedule. You want a smart Dr. who is great at surgery, go with Dr. James. Want to explore your options and have someone who is more personal and cares more about you as a patient, find another Dr.

I had a robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy done by Dr James. He changed my life. He was cordial, professional, friendly and ridiculously competent. The man is a pioneer in his field and it shows. Was he holding my hand and being my counselor? No. He's a surgeon, not a therapist. Do your part as a patient and know your stuff, ask what you don't know and don't expect your surgeon to be your nurse. His nurse Gail is awesome, you can tell she didn't just graduate from nursing school and that it's NOT her first rodeo! I'd recommend Dr James and his staff without hesitation. He followed up right after surgery and is able to give intelligent, thoughtful information that I trust. I want my surgeon to know his stuff, and to act like it. The rest is tertiary. Ease in getting an appointment and waiting time depend on office. At the Ft Collins clinic you can wait more than an hour. In Loveland it is much easier to get an appointment and they stay almost on schedule (almost). I even got in early once. If there isn't anything to discuss he is in and out pretty fast, but he has also spent a lot of time with me when needed. He answers questions, always asks if there is anything else before he leaves. And he did introduce himself the first time we met, and he knows who I am. He has a more businesslike style than my GP, but I have no problem with getting in, getting it done and getting out - given, as I say, that he is willing to stay longer and talk more if needed.

Obviously a very knowledgeable individual however Dr. James has NO bedside manner. Never once did he introduce himself or use my name. I think this should be a minimal expectation before a doctor puts his hand into my vagina.
