Dr. Scherer earned his Bachelor of Science Degree and Doctor of Medicine from State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude, respectively, as well as a PhD in visual neuroscience. His program of study included an internship at the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, with a focus on internal medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Michigan's W.K. Kellogg eye care center in Ann Arbor. Prior to joining St. Luke's Cataract & Laser Insititute, Dr. Scherer practiced at Florida and also at UPMC eye care center of Pittsburg, PA where he was a clinical assistant professor.

Having the same assistant with the opthalmologist makes so much sense. There is more sense of teamwork and less feeling of being another patient on a conveyor belt, which turned me off at a different practice.

I had an infection of my optic nerve. Dr Scherer diagnosed it and I was treated. I can see again. He’s great. I send all of my friends to him.

Dr Scherer did my cataract surgery. My vision is better now than when I was 20. It is incredible. Thank you Dr Scherer for restoring my sight.
