Dr. Wayne J. Reynolds, DO

excellent caring physician

Dr. Reynolds WAS my primary care doctor. I had breast cancer when I moved to the area and started seeing him. I should have known he wasn't any good when he didn't read a letter I brought from the cancer institute advising additional genetic tests. Then I had a couple head injuries and started having speech problems and difficulty swallowing. The emergency room doctor said I should see a neurologist. I followed up with Dr. Reynolds. He seemed hurried and disinterested. I had to follow him down the hall convincing him to refer me to a neurologist. I think he did it to shake me off. I got a necrotic antibiotic resistant bacterial infection two months later. My breast tissue expander had to be removed because It got into my breast. My plastic surgeon said, "The good news is it's not MRSA. The bad news is that it's the next worse bacteria, second only to MRSA." He put sent me home with a prescription for chemotherapeutic antibiotics and a surgery date. I followed up… with Dr. Reynolds for a referral to an infectious disease specialist. By then, I had lost 25 pounds, my fingers and toes turned blue a lot, my speech was slurred and I couldn't swallow food or even my own saliva. I was so weak I was nearly bed ridden. I brought a list of my symptoms to my appointment. Dr. Reynolds didn't read it so I told him. He didn't look at the infection site. I showed him my fingers which were a little blue at the time. He didn't comment on them. He said my plastic surgeon would refer me to a specialist if he thought I needed one. Luckily, my surgery was two days later. My plastic surgeon said the surgery would be quick and I could go home with simple instructions. While I was waiting for surgery my hands turned a dark bluish purple. They were mottled. I called my plastic surgeon into the room to show them and tell him what Dr. Reynolds said. He was taken aback. When I woke up in the recovery room, my plastic surgeon said he was putting me in the hospital because I didn't have enough time to wait on the medical system. He put a team of doctors to work on me. I left the hospital under the care of an infectious disease specialist, a neurologist, a rheumatologist, a gastroenterologist, a speech therapist and a feeding tube. Dr. Reynolds would have let me die! My plastic surgeon saved my life! I'm seeing Dr. West now. He's a good doctor.
