Dr. Wayne Alan Schweitzer, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Schweitzer for over 10 years. He has provided nothing but consistent, excellent care even during the times when he has been extremely busy trying to help the patients of a partner who simply decided to shut down his practice and not help them find someone else. He has never been cold or distant nor has he tried to to rush any appointment. He has been with me through all of my issues and helped me improve. His office staff have been excellent with questions or concerns beyond visits which is what they are there for. His PA has been extremely helpful when I have needed to be seen between appointments and Dr. S wasn't available. I highly recommend Dr. S to anyone although I don't think he is accepting patients currently

I LOVE Dr. Schweitzer! After 40 some years of severe allergic reactions includng hives, swelling face ,tongue , lips and throat ,he is the first Dr. to medicate me to a point that I have no reoccurance of the severe allergic reactions. He is a warm, concerned Dr. who listens to me and I feel I can reach out to him if I need him .

I am editing my previous review of Dr. Schweitzer. I have been a loyal patient of his for well over a decade. Followed him to Cooley when the other practice in Florence dissolved. I am extremely disgusted in the way he just dismissed our patient/dr relationship and when I asked the nurse to have him call me, he would not. The issue at hand was of importance to someone that suffers from ailments daily. I never ever would expect that he would treat me like a second class citizen as he did after all the time and money I've spent going to see him for years and years. Shame on you Dr. S. You have become a little to full of yourself. You are no longer the compassionate understanding Dr. you once were and that I raved about. So disappointing.

Dr. Schweitzer is one of the worst physicians I have ever encountered. He is uncommunicative and does not follow up on treatment or patient results. I would not recommend him to anyone!

Despite my osteoarthritis getting more severe and painful, he will not increase pain meds, even a little bit as requested. Before you jump to conclusions and think i am a druggie, i have been on the same amount of pain meds for the last 5 years. For the last 5 years, i have developed arthritis in 3 areas of the neck, 3 more area in the lower back, in 1 foot, 1 elbow, and the front & back of one shoulder. I also have several other diseases & conditions that cause pain. He has put me on a couple other meds including a anti-seizure med that snowed me and another med that sent me to the hospital that almost caused me to die. He had zero sympathy to me almost dying! I understand that their is a heroin and opioid crisis, but with all the test results, it shows i have increased and severe arthritis. I get easily get more than 12 cortisone shots a year which only take off the edge and not eliminate the pain. I just want a small increase of pain meds. I am spending say too much time lying in… bed which is the worse thing someone with arthritis can do, but if i lie still in bed, the pain is less. With the increased pain i have, everything is a struggle and i do much less. Dr Schweitzer does not care i am suffering like a dog. His personality is cold; it's an effort for him to say "hello". He barely speaks to you and quickly zips out of the room. Like other's said, at times he spends only 2 minutes with you. My insurance company gets charged anywhere from $500 to almost $800 a visit, yet i only get 2 minutes of his time instead of the 15 minutes it's suppose to be. He think he's God and does play God with my life and others. I know 4 of his other patients and they say the same thing, he makes them feel like a burden, is rude, spends minimum time with you, lacks sympathy and compassion. Go elsewhere for another doctor, i am seeking a new doctor because i am sick of being treated like dirt!

I've seen Dr. Schweitzer regularly for a rare genetic disorder that has gifted me with webbed hands and feet. Though I can swim faster than a Latino sperm cell, my ability to navigate dry land is downright awful. I used to live in constant pain and required round the clock care. Before I saw Dr. Schweitzer, I felt hopeless. I tried to live life as normal as I could. I waxed and buffed my walker and even treated it to a new set of tennis balls before I went to the bar one night. I opened the bar door with my derriere and spun my walker around like a Ferrari in a high speed chase. I parked my unit right next to the homeliest looking thing I could find (I have a hard time with rejection). She looked at me. My heart swelled up so big. So did my adult diaper. I didn't know what to say so I panicked and asked her if I could be her crip tonight. She didn't laugh. She stood up and started to walk away. I knew she was playing hard to get, so I fanned out my hand like a male peacock does when he… sees his bird babe and I smacked her booty as hard as I could. My hand was so sore, I couldn't wait for her to come back. I went straight to my Doctor who referred me to Dr. Schweitzer. After my first visit I was a new person. I grew taller, stronger, and became irresistibly handsome overnight. Not as handsome as Dr. Schweitzer, understandably, since he is a god among humans. I cannot thank that man enough.

I was absolutely apalled by this man's lack of sensitivity when I saw him for a cortisone injection into my hip. Schweitzer said "okay, turn over"-- I was not offered ANY privacy drapery AT ALL. Indeed, I had to ASK HIM FOR IT. I felt like a piece of flesh. Assembly line medicine is not for me. This man should be ashamed to call himself "Dr.".

Probably the worst Doctor the United States, has he ruined my mothers life and called her the Shining, like the movie. Does not listen to a thing she says and is very rude. Refers my mother to another pain specialist and neglects to communicate withe that doctor resulting in my mom getting exogenous cushing syndrome, which almost evolved into cushing disease which could have ended her life. Overall A bad docter to society. I wish I could give him NO stars!

I have to say after reading the review posted that I have never seen this Dr. behave in such a matter. I have been going to him for years and he always listens and takes time with me (and I am not an easy case). He is always interested and willing to help even when it is not a cut and dry diagnosis.If he does not have the answers he continues to help instead of saying there is nothing I can do for you like most Doctors these days.
