Dr. Wayne Woo, MD

He doesn’t deserve one star. I arrived early. The office staff was really friendly. I had high hopes, but they became very low. I waited to see him well over 3+ hours. It was so hot in the office. They finally brought me a fan. Still no Dr Woo. I told the other Dr that I was feeling awful, and I wanted to leave (over 4-5 times). One would think that he would just peek in and say something. But, not Dr Woo! He saw everyone that arrived after me. And Chad, you are a downer. DO NOT GO HERE!!! You will only be depressed.....

I would never again recommend Dr. Woo or his clinic. Recently, I went for my appointment and the receptionist was not only rude, and attempted to pick an argument with me, but she was quite racist. After her unprofessional behavior towards me, she then called me stupid and turned to talk about me with her co-workers. Once I was called back, the technician acted the same as her friend - I watched their conversation which involved a lot of pointing towards me. She was rude, unprofessional, and extremely disrespectfully racist. I wish I could say this was new, but the rudeness and unprofessionalism was not. The outright racism was however. The icing on the cake however was when the Office Manager, Pat - who is married to Dr. Woo, came out of the back and accused me of videoing my appointment. I'm unsure if everyone took their crazy pill, but the OM then begins to yell about their policy of not videoing their staff. I've been going to this clinic for over 5 years and not… once has anyone said anything to this level of harassment. Additionally, I ALWAYS input my A1C, weight, measures, and whatnot into an app on my phone to track how I'm doing. I ALWAYS have my phone out - whether I'm waiting the 45 mins - 1 hour (normal waiting times) and playing games or adding notes to my diabetes app. It has NEVER been a problem before - in fact, no one has EVER said anything about my phone being out or used. In summary, the staff are vile, unmannerly, bigoted, inefficient buffoons. The Office Manager, Pat, was completely out of line, hateful, unprofessional tyrant. The staff was completely different than my visit months previously, so I can only suppose that racist was new to the list of requirements to work in this wholly amateurish office. As a side note, the NPs and GPs that visit you in your room are amazing - well-educated, caring, competent professionals. It's like night and day from front to back of clinic. In my last year of visits, I've only seen Dr. Woo himself once. So if you do go, get use to the revolving door of miserable, non-educated front door staff.

This doctor was not thorough in explaining: the diagnosis of thyroid disease, the purpose of the testing, the purpose of radiation, the lasting effects of the radiation, the fact that this treatment was permanent. The doctors spends less than two minutes in the room and does not talk to or listen to the patient. No alternatives were given at the onset although later I found out that there were other options. The intern seemed to be better at trying to explain than Dr. Woo. The staff is very friendly and courteous.

My sugar increased I heard about Dr. Woo came to Dr. Woo and he taught me how to shop for healthy food. Took me off all my insulin, then put me on Byetta. The Byetta made me lose 27 lbs. Now I exercise 3 or 4 times a week. I am now aware of taking care of myself watching my blood glucose levels 3 times a day and stay between 6.1 and 6.5 on my A1c. I am glad to have contacted Dr. Woo because he has made a change in my life. I am more healthier now.

I went to this Dr and was unaware that had diabetes. Once he diagnosed me he opened the door and announced loudley she has diabetes as if he had won a prize. Not very professional at all.

I am still waiting on test results 3 weeks .

Upon first going to Dr. Woo, I don't think I could have felt much worse; in fact, I told my husband I feared I was slowly dying. Dr. Woo first ran tests, set me down, threw away all the medications I had been taking and we started completely fresh. I lost nearly 50 pounds and began a regiment that turned my life around. At the Institute, he requires attendance to an occasional evening whereupon he discusses diabetes and shares a diabetic healthy meal that he and his WIFE have prepared. I had been warned that if you don't follow his regiment that he will dismiss you as a patient because he can't help you if you are unwilling to follow his instructions. His staff is fantastic and I certainly wish that I was still under his care as I have moved from MS. He is excellent but you must DO as he directs. :)

Dr. Wayne Woo is an outstanding educator for diabetic patients. He has developed a six module PowerPoint presentation which he uses to give a series of education sessions in the evening, after patient hours. Each of his patients is required to attend all six of the modules in his education course. He spends two to two and an half hours on each session, including dinner with the course, and has many approaches to involving the patients in their own education. Q&A games, with prizes, encourage everyone to pay close attention. I don't know of another doctor in any specialty who does this much for his patients.
