Dr. Wen Shen, MD

I would give him no stars if I could! He came in for about 5 minutes, stood super far away from me and my husband. Made us feel very uncomfortable. Did not explain the break in my foot clearly, because the hospital gave me a makeshift boot advised I get one online. When I asked him if my foot needed surgery he told me it was up to me.. I found him to be rude and dismissive. When I asked him to state on my work note why I would be out for over a month he said they don’t need to know that, ummmm yes they do!! Then he had the nurse make a makeshift splint that was held on by ace bandages… Went for a second opinion and yes I need surgery and now I’m in a cast which should’ve been done two weeks ago!!! The who thing was so weird! I wouldn’t see him again.

Not only did this doctor give me a bad diagnosis and an apprehensive assessment on an injury, but he actually bad advice that worsened my condition and made my pain and swelling worse. I was referred to this doctor as a specialist, but he didn't even listen to me about how I injured myself or where it hurt. I went to NYC for a second opinion and they found a torn ligament that was the cause of all my pain, swelling and why it was slow to heal. With repeated description of how I injured myself, he refused to accept all the facts and he repeatedly cut me off in middle of my explaining that his assessment was incorrect. Doctors, listen to your patients and investigate the real answers, please. Avoid the bad bedside manner and advice. Go to NYC where the doctors actually take their time and want to help you heal.

Dr. Shen treated me for a bimalleolar ankle fracture in 2021. At first I thought he lacked bedside manner, but realized after multiple follow-ups that he is just shy. I think at first he is more concerned with correct diagnoses and treatment so he comes across as maybe too serious for some people. He is very caring and did a great job on my ankle. He is an excellent surgeon and took very good care of me. I would recommend him to anyone who needs foot or ankle surgery.

We were referred to Dr. Shen by another doctor for a condition that required surgery for my 10 year old daughter. At our consultation visit he was very thorough, very informative, explained her ailment, what he was going to do and aftercare in great detail. Day of surgery same thing! Everyone was very attentive, caring and helpful. Would highly recommend!

Dr. Shen told my husband, who had a displaced proximal fracture of the humerus, that he thought that his injury would heal on its own. Displaced proximal humerus fractures need surgical intervention in most cases, so his "advice" after an exam that consisted of touching my husband on the collar bone to see if it hurt (why would it? the issue was with his shoulder) and no further exam was useless and in fact, perhaps medically unsound in our opinion. He got angry when my husband asked to see the X-Ray of his fracture and was rude to us thereafter. We made an appointment with another surgeon to get an opinion based on more than one X-ray and a through exam that takes more than 1-2 minutes. Very unhappy and would never use this individual as a surgeon or even to obtain an opinion.

An amazing Doctor! Absolutely love him he had done 5 surgeries on my leg in a year and had taken excellent care of me!

Came in with a double ankle injury, could not walk. Was not searching for painkillers or any long-term treatment, just a short term diagnosis and rehabilitation. Doctor looked at it, described the options clearly, and sent me on my way with a prescription for a wheelchair and other medical devices I needed. Absolutely perfect in care.

The doctor is straightforward, has a good sense of humor, (maybe not appreciated by everyone perhaps), but I feel that he has always been approachable and willing to work to help with concerns whenever I've had any.

This Dr. made a completely untruthful and incorrect diagnosis because he refused to get all the facts needed to make correct diagnosis: (1) did not get a history referring to reason I came to see him (2) refused to listen to me when I tried to tell him history of problem (3) cut me off in middle of answer so he did not get all facts (4) was sarcastic in answers (5) did not have grasp of functioning of foot in practical life for an athlete. Horrible experience all around.

Dr Shen was very rude and short he didnt explain his course of action in treatment I broke my tibia (shin bone) I have been in a cast for 9 weeks I see someone different every time i go to orthopedic associates I have been told now that after 9 weeks in a cast I have to go see Dr Shen again so he can set me up for surgery as he was the original treating physician I am very displeased
