Dr. Wendy Shorr, DDS

I went to Dr. Shorr for a dental appliance to treat my sleep apnea. I had previously use the TAP 3 appliance for many years and needed to replace it. I had consultation with Dr. Shorr and she ordered the Herbst dental appliance without my knowledge instead of the TAPP, stating that it was a better device. There is an old saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” which apparently didn’t apply here. The follow-up visits were like an interrogation session. I told her about my issues using the Herbst appliance. She would contradict me and one time raised her voice at me in anger, when I repeated a concern. She also insinuated that I was lying when I stated the device came off during sleep hours. Dr. Shorr’s business practices are a disgrace! Prior to ordering my new sleep appliance, I was instructed to sign off on a “pre-filled” form by her Office Manager. See attachment. It stated “This is not a coverage by Medicare” which I assumed was accurate, but completely false! Next to Options, it… stated “We cannot choose a box for you.” However, the Option 2 box was filled in by her Office Manager anyway. It stated “I want the follow up visits listed above, but do not bill Medicare” along with additional language stating that I was responsible for payment and cannot appeal. Under Additional Information, it stated “This notice gives our opinion, not an official Medicare decision.” So, you have this statement indicating everything “Medicare related” on this form is an opinion, as opposed to actual coverage. I found all of this to be very deceptive and misleading, and it ended up costing me over $200 in extra medical expenses. My advice to anyone considering using Dr. Shorr for sleep dentistry is to look elsewhere.

Wendy Shors office genuinely cares about your teeth and they will spend so much time on just one cavity to make sure it's perfect. They are extremely professional and offer incredible dental advice. Doesn't even compare to my old dentist.

Dr. Shorr is a truly exceptional dentist. She is kind, compassionate and really cares about her patients. She educates you and explains the procedures but never lectures you.
