Dr. Wenshu Yu, MD

Owner of a monopoly puts herself on a pedestal by badmouthing other drs. Obnoxious passive aggressive

Dr. Yu is amazing, I had been to rheumatologist in Seattle that was uncaring and didn't even bother to check on symptoms just attributed it to drug side effects. Dr. Yu has dug in and researched my past medical issues and is finally giving me the help I needed. She is a jewel, to find this kind of doctor in rural Colorado has been a blessing!

Was a patient for about a year. Dr. Yu was arrogant & rude. I would come in pain and very stiff from a flare of my disease and she would do a range of motion exam and when I couldn't bend as far over she would say it was because I wasn't trying hard enough and record that I had full ROM anyway and despite my inflammation markers being high she would simply record it was within normal range. I had over lapping doctors appointments with My primary doctor who did all the same exams and tests and their records all were honest and they said my inflammation markers were very high. My husband always comes with me and is a huge part of my care. He comes as it hurts me to drive and he is very helpful in remembering bad days and answering things I may have forgot and is a huge support to me. The one time he didn't was the longest she spent with me because she stripped me down and went searching head to toe for bruises and going over my past history of injuries I had gotten living life and… spent over a hour trying to force me in to saying I was abused which I am not while at the same time telling me I couldn't see a chiropractor as my bones were fragile ( I felt like my hips were out of place and was asking if she thought it would help) and would break very easy and also said I had test results showing I was anemic which means I would bruise easy and have bruises I couldn't explain. I told my other doctors about this as it really upset and confused me that she was doing this and they were all as baffled as I was and said that there was no signs that pointed to abuse now or ever in the past and told me that I should ask her about it next time and try to maybe clarify and fix whatever the mix up or miscommunication was that made her think this. Next appointment we go in and she is outwardly rude to my husband and when we try to ask her about the last appointment and make sure she knows that we are in a healthy relationship and were hurt by her accusations she refuses to answer us and just says that she has seen "red flags" and that us even bringing it up was another "red flag" to her and basically ended the appointment. I of course wasn't enthusiastic about the following appointment and was trying to figure out a way of getting over to Denver so I could be treated by the Rhuematologists up there who had no issues with patients having a spouse in there for support and had better communication with me. I did two more appointments after this each one she was rude and snobby and rushed the appointments. The next appointment I had we got stuck on the highway as there was a really bad wreck on the road right in front of us and I called trying to let then know we would be about 8-10 minutes late. I had never been late to a appointment with her before and only cancelled one appointment while I was in the hospital and did so over 24 hours in advance. I was put on hold and when the Secretary came back on she said she talk to Dr. Yu and that she said if I wasn't going to be on time she would count me as a no show and I would have to pay for the appointment out of pocket before She would be willing to see me again knowing full well I was having a lot of financial issues and couldn't pay it immediately. I tried reasoning with them, reminding then I had followed their rules and never had been late and even offered to get then a copy of the police report showing I was in fact stuck at car wreck and not just making excuses. They refused to listen and wanted to know when I would have their money to them. I told them I didn't know and couldn't pay in full and I would have to wait til the first of the month and try to make payments to lay it off. A few days later I got a letter in the mail stating that I was being fired for the missed appointment and a out standing balance in the amount of that appointment. It was clear she had a personal issue with me and or my husband and couldn't be professional and was going out of her way to screw me over. Since this time I have found other People who's spouses she was rude like this to and had done the same thing with. She obviously doesn't care at all about patients, she is just greedy and has found a small town where people have to choose between driving over 8+ hours and go through tons of pain to get care over in Denver or settle for seeing her. She uses the fact that a lot of people have no choice but to see her as they can't work due to their illness and can't afford or physically handle long trips and abuses them. She Definetly hates anyone who has a active support system with a close relative who cares about the patient and come in and asks questions and tries to be apart of their care, I guess she finds it is intimidating or doesn't like witnesses to her inappropriate and rude comments about a patients decline in health and takes it personally when she prescribes something that a patient ends up allergic to. Thankfully I was in the care of other doctors who were ing and able to continue the treatments she had been providing minus the ones that weren't working and causing me to have reactions, and I was able to go to Denver and be treated by professionals. If you are thinking of seeing her because she is closer than Durango or Denver do yourself a huge favor and make the drive. I know it isn't easy but it is worth it, I have never been treated like this anywhere else ever before or since then. If you don't you may find yourself in the same boat I was in or worse as no I am not the only patient she did stuff like this to and I ak going to make sure they all see this and give reviews so people can actually know what they are getting into.

I've only had a preliminary visit with Dr. Yu but so far I'm very happy. Everyone was very professional and my care was handled promptly. Dr Yu gave me so much information regarding different treatment options, costs, upsides, downsides. I'm very happy to begin treatment.
