Dr. Wesam Gaber Yacoub, MD

He assisted in the treatment of my wife's Guillain Barre' Syndrome. He gave us the highest respect and care I could have imagined. He kept both her and myself updated on our plan to get her better and when he said something, you could believe he was going to do everything he could to make that happen. I owe him my greatest gratitude for his care and the way he treated us. Thank You!

He is an amazing physician. I had a great experience with him. I do not know WHAT the first commenter is talking about, my experience with him was very much like the other two. He is ridiculously intelligent and capable, and most importantly, compassionate. I would recommend Dr. Yacoub to anyone.

I can't say enough good things about how Dr Yacoub handled the care of my husband who had been in ICU for over 75 days. Yes, he had bad news to deliver, but he did it in the most caring, compassionate way. He helped me and my family understand the process of my husband's serious illness, and helped us make decisions which were difficult, but in accordance with my husband's wishes. I can't imagine how one of the previous reviewers had such a negative experience, but I can assure you that I couldn't have asked for a better doctor in this situation.

My mother became severly ill with a bad penumonia that resulted in her not being able to breath. She was transferred to the intensive care unit and that is when I met Dr. Yacoub. The initial impression of him was rushed since he seemed to just want to get to my mother as her breathing was becoming worse. After our first meeting, I wrote down his name and googled him and the previous review came up. I was very concerned at that point. I went back the following day with the thought that he is going to be terrible. Over the next 5 days my mother was on life support and we had family coming from all over. During our second meeting we all met with him as a family to discuss what we are going to do and have our concerns answered. I have to say, I was very surprised. He sat down with us in a side room, explained the entire situation, answered all our questions. He was very patient, considerate and seemed that he knows what he is talking about. I was very happy he was my mother's… doctor. And for all that want to know, my mother left the ICU after 5 days and went back home with us. So, apparently he is a good doctor too. I really wish people are more careful with what they write because that previous review made me really scared. I hope he got my thank you card.

This doctor saw my elderly mother in the hospital and abused my family and mother with his unusually crass deliver of grave news. He literally grabbed me ny the arrm and took me out of my mother's room and saaid he did not want me to freak out in front of my mother after telling us we were at the point of needing her Living Will. tears began to come to my eyes and I began to cry as did my cousin who was with my mother and me in the room. He soon thereafter literally grabbed me by the arm and pulled me into the hallway and scolded me for "freaking out" in front of my mother. Bare in mind we adn most importantly, my mother had not spokenor seen thid man 5 minutes as of yet. As we were then in the hall, he very matter of factly went down a list of what would happento my mother who had been diagnosed with a small amount of pnuemonia. Her BP had fallen greatly and I am intelligent enough to know she was very sick. The list went like this - within 2 hours your mother will go into… respiratory failure and then within 24 hours she will have heart failure and we will have to put her on a respirator. As I am sure you know my cousins and I have talked about this to try to undertand his perspective and how he could have done this especially to my mother. To ALL of us , when you mention a Living Will and a respirator in the same conversation with no other explanation, it means the respirator would be used to sustain one's life unnecesarily. He gave no further explanation until I gathered my self from my hysteria and said to him, "so you are telling me my mother will be dead within the next few days?" His response was" who said anything about death?" i said you did!!!!!! he gave no other fuller explanation and pushed us off to the waiting room while he put a pic line into my mother's neck. He promised to come to the waiting room to get us and explain what he had just done to my mother and more about what he meant. After 2 1/2 hours, we went back to my Mother's room and they told us he had been gone for hours!!!!!!!!!So as not to stress my mother anymore, I did not tell her about what happened to us. Unbeknownst to me, he immediately went into my mother's room and told her the same thing verbatim as he was cutting her neck. She was with no member of her family. There was no one in the room she knew well enough for support for such news. I want you all to know my mother, as bad as she felt, told him that "he did not know her, her constitution, her faith, or anything else. This is not my time. If it were, I would know it and be accepting of it. When I leave this hospital I am going home to my house not to my God!I am telling you this two days after his grave diagnosis. She was moved out of ICU TODAY!!!!!!In trying to be fair to him in some way, I spent time trying to understand his perspective. He chose Critical Care,so at some point,somehwere in him, there must have been a care for those who are in dire straits in their health. i am sure this is normal for him,but it is NEVER normal to the patient or to the family. I also considered that the majority of his patients probably do not survive.The reason I am writing this is not becasue he isnot intelligent, or capable of being a critical care doctor. I was not around him to know abou those things. I do not wnat thisto happaen to another family and that is the same reason I let the hospital authority know and intend to contact the head of the grop with whom he works. Most things in life are gray, but this was b and w abuse.May this not ever happen to any of you!
