Care from Dr. Green, while not perfect, was ok. Unfortunately, the billing practices of this practice are terrible and for that reason alone you should stay away. Dr. Green performed cataract surgeries on each eye. Before each surgery I was provided, possibly by the surgery center, with estimates of my financial responsibility. This is normal what good providers do. During the course of my treatment there was discussion of cleaning up residual haziness in the office with a laser if needed. This was described as something done regularly, routine, no appointment needed - just do it during an office visit. At no time was an extra charge disclosed to me. About nine months after surgery the haziness persisted. I was offered the laser and not informed of any additional charges. I was not given an estimate of my responsibility. I signed a consent form disclosing the risks and walked to another room. Dr. Green spent 45 seconds pushing some buttons and that was the end of the procedure. It… did not improve the persistent problems - I still have them three months later. Then I got the bill - over $1,100. I have a high deductible plan so this would be my responsibility. I tried to discuss this with the practice as I was shocked. No provider has ever done this to me. Even Labcorp, for example, told me in advance I might owe $40 after a blood draw. A surprise bill over $1,000 is insane. Regardless, they refused to discuss resolution and sent me to collections. It was like dealing with the mob. I had to pay to protect my credit rating. There are many other good providers in town - no reason to go to this one.
