Dr. Wesley R Grootwassink, MD

Back in 2016, I saw Dr. Grootwassink to have my cerclage removed. Something that should have been a simple procedure led to me laboring for hours with 5cm of stitch still left in my cervix. The results were me almost bleeding out shortly after delivering my baby. The labor doctor saved my life by stitching me back up in the delivery room as there was no time to get me into an OR. I only recently discovered the extent of the damage due to reading through all the notes from that day. I have never fully recovered. I now have adrenal insufficiency and adenomyosis. Dr. Grootwassink was never held accountable for the damage caused. The nurse that checked my cervix after the procedure was never held responsible. And thanks to Minnesota not having a discovery clause for medical malpractice the only thing I can do is warn others through a review.

Dr. Grootwassink is an amazing doctor. Not only is he experienced and educated, but he is personable, caring, understanding, and takes time to listen to me and address my concerns. I first saw him for my routine gynecological needs, then prenatal appointments, and finally he delivered my healthy beautiful baby boy. He helped ease my anxiety during pregnancy and I am forever grateful.

Dr. Grootwassink is the best of the best! He helped me through two instances of infertility, three surgeries, and delivered both my children; all while helping me feel at ease and confident throughout the journey. He's extremely professional, knowledgeable and always calm, cool and collected. I highly recommend him for your OB needs.

Dr. Grootwassink is an amazing MD! I would highly reccomend him. -He is a great communicator and always feel educated on all treatment options -He has a great bedside manor -He is reliable and responsible He delivered both of my children. My first child had the umbelical cord wrapped aroung his neck. Dr. Grootwassink was very calm and made sure that my child arrived safely and without any complications. My second child had hiposadis. At the time Dr. Grootwassink decided not to circumcise my child until he was seen by the pediatrician. Was thanful that he waited becuase we were able to use the foreskin for his surgery instead of having to do a skin graft. Thankful and blessed to have such an amazing OB!!

I went in to get a blood test done, as i had tested positive very early. Not only did he not do the test, but informed me it was most likely my "LH Level" (which most women, including myself, do not know what that is), i was informed it had to do with ovulation. I was far enough past my ovulation date to know that was impossible, and for this to be a real pregnancy. I went in just to get confirmation before telling my husband, and only left in tears with no answers. I felt stupid, embarrassed and dismissed. I was not asked about any symptoms i felt, how my period was, not one thing that would help him better to know me. I found an OB who took me seriously and made me feel valid. She did a blood test, and i was in fact pregnant with a high HCG level. I would not recommend this OB, he made me feel like i was naive, and didnt know anything about my body. I cannot wait to get that waste of time bill in the mail. I am still very upset by this appointment.

Sadly, I have to give Dr. Grootwassink a negative review, even after being a long time patient. He delivered two of my three children (he chose to send the on-call doctor to deliver my daughter), and I would say I had a positive experience. That, however, was 10-15 years ago. Recently, I went to his office with pre-menopause type symptoms, and he suggested an $8000 surgery to correct the problem. Although it seemed my symptoms pointed without a doubt to hormonal imbalance, I went along with the surgery to rule out anything serious. This week, a few weeks post surgery, I called to say I still have severe bleeding and the other hormonal symptoms I had before the surgery. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. I call to say I have severe bleeding, and no one calls me back?! He shows up for the $8000 surgery, but can't return a patient's call regarding recovery. Unbelievable. And I am in the same state of medical need today as I was a month ago, only I'm out a lot of time, money, and… blood. Needless to say, I will need to contact another physician ASAP to help control my symptoms. I would have hoped he would be just as attentive to his patients from the time they need obstetric care, all the way through menopause, but apparently, this isn't the case with this doctor.

I had laparoscopic surgery for pelvic pain. He did not take any biopsies nor send anything to pathology. He could not tell me what stage of endometriosis I have. He cauterized some spots instead of doing the appropriate way, which is excision. He doesn't know he got it all and therefore wanted to put me on Lupron injections. He did not tell me what to expect after surgery nor things I shouldn't do. For example not wear tampon, no swimming or biking for 6 weeks. Post-op he thought I could also have Adenomyosis but only did a pelvic exam to test that. I was not knowledgable enough at the time to ask the right questions to him, but he didn't tell me much about anything.

Wes (Dr. G) is the best OBGYN Dr. I have ever had. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He is very prompt, courteous and just a wonderful person. He takes the time and listen to your concerns to figure out the best care. I found him with my fifth pregnancy and wished that I would have found him 15 years ago. Now if I could only find a Pediatrician that treats us as well as Dr. G treats me. Wes is you see this and have any suggestions please give me a call. THANK YOU for everything you have done. Dr. Grootwassink is a fantastic doctor. I have seen him for the last 4 years. I always listens to your concerns and I trust him completely. He delivered my 2nd baby and even my husband was impressed with his poise and confidence. I like that he is usually humming or whistling when he comes into the room - it always put me at ease.

He delivered my second baby. He is wonderful doctor who listens and is extremely knowledgeable. He makes an effort to deliver his own patients which I appreciate. He is confident and reassuring. I would highly recommend him
