Worst doctor I’ve ever dealt with. Supposedly caring for my bi-polar son with no interest in transparency or education for the family with full release waiver. Condescending, without evidence, unprofessional. Drives unstable patients to further instability. Can not believe he is still employed.

Run from this guy -- he's the most arrogant person I have ever met. He's a "churn em and burn em" "doctor" no follow up and zero follow through. In my opinion he has no business treating psych disorders. Other review sites also give him 1 or 2 stars. he has 1 4 start review that simply says that he's awesome. He has such an ego he probably wrote that himself.

It's a waste of money. He doesn't listen very well he lacks that important technique and being a psychiatrist!!

I cant understand the negative reviews. Dr. Tate went out of his way to help me as a new patient after I missed my appointment by my own fault. He and his staff have been nothing but nice, helpful, and extremely thorough. Dr. Tate personally came across as someone highly intelligent, not rude or arrogant. I personally would prefer a knowledgeable Dr. to an overly warm friendly Dr. , that's what your therapist is for.

Staff is great, Dr. Tate is an egotistical SOB and should never work with the mentally ill. His ego is larger then cyberspace.

His great concern seems to be "masking" symptoms of psychological issues and as a result he wildly under prescribes for children in desperate need of medication to function in school or anywhere. He does not care that a child is suffering, is violent, a danger to themselves or others or requires physical restraint. He refuses to prescribe anything but the bare minimum, possibly because he does not understand how to use psychotropic medication in a responsible pediatric and adolescent practice. As a result, children in his care do not benefit from appropriate intervention, remain in residential settings far longer than necessary, lag academically and fail to engage socially. It is truly grim that this is all the "care" the children and families he "treats" receive. He needs to enter a profession that does not require compassion, concern, or the ability to work effectively with those around him. Do NOT inflict this practitioner on your child or yourself.

My son was given an incorrect address (right across the street) for the office. Arrived 15 minutes early and tried calling the office for 30 minutes until someone finally picked up. Was then told that it was too late to come in and they charged US $250 for a missed appointment. Wouldn't work with us to reschedule and when told would file a complaint they said they would note it in the file. a rating with NO STARS would be too good.

It is really difficult to explain the interaction I had with this man. I can handle honesty and I appreciate when a person is straight with me. He was those two things, but I felt that if he did not understand what I was saying he became condescending rather than try to help me verbalize my concerns. In my opinion, he was a little defensive. I looked up the definition of psychiatrist and it said: "A medical practitioner specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness". He made no attempt to diagnose. When I tried to explain to him my symptoms he was questioning me in a way that made me second-guess myself and made me uncomfortable. He did ask me several times something along the lines of, "What is it you want me to help you with today?". Ummm... to help me file my taxes? Really? Did you read the five pages of paperwork I filled out before I entered your office? He was unable to recommend a medication. I could not tell if that meant I did not need one or if I was… supposed to tell him what I wanted. Isn't it his job to recommend a medication based on a diagnosis? How could I know what type of medication could be best for me, especially when I am not quite sure what exactly my diagnosis is? Why else would I take time off from work and pay money to see him? Definitely not to feel worse than I already do. I get that he is not a therapist, but if you choose a profession in which you are dealing not only with people, but mentally unstable people, show an ounce of compassion. I have been to a few psychiatrists and I know I will not be visiting him in the future. No way will I put myself in that unhealthy situation again.

My health care provider is Kaiser. They had a 3 month wait to see a psychiatrist for depression. So Kaiser set me up to see Dr. Wesley Tate. He prescribed Lexapro. I ordered a refill from Kaiser on a Thursday. Kaiser's automated voice told me that I could pick up the refill the following Wednesday. I did not expect it would take that long. At the time, I only had enough for the next 3 days. The following Wednesday came and went, no refill. On Thursday, I called Kaiser. Their receptionist said they faxed the request to Dr. Tate, and Dr. Tate had not responded. I don't know of any reason why Dr. Tate would not have permitted the refill, other than being irresponsible. And if he had a reason to not refill the prescription, at least he should have contacted Kaiser. But rather he decided to do nothing a let a depression patient go without medicine. Now that's a dangerous doctor that our society can do without. Someday, he will do the same to someone else who may commit suicide. Dr. Wesley… Tate's medical license needs to be revoked before someone loses their life.
