Dr. Wilbert Henry Mason, MD

Wilbert H. Mason Jr. (M.D., University of California Irvine, 1970; M.P.H. [Epidemiology], University of California Los Angeles, 1995) is an attending physician and Head of the Division of Infectious Disease at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. His research focus has been in Kawasaki disease and, more recently, the implementation of evidence based medicine through the use of clinical practice guidelines in the hospital setting. He has also been active in the study and promotion of medical safety in pediatrics. Since 1995 he has served as Medical Director for Quality Systems Management at CHLA. He has been active in the Child Health Accountability Initiative since its inception in 1997 and assumed the position of Co-Medical Director in 2001. He is currently President-elect of Chapter 2, District IX, of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
