Dr. Wilbert Derek Yeung, MD

My son was diagnosed with OCD, ADHD and acute anxiety disorder. Our initial meeting with Dr Yeung was short & he quickly agreed with the hospital diagnosis & prescribed medication. After the first couple of consultations it quickly became clear that Dr Yeung was just going through the motions. I found him to be repetitive & didactic. Our meetings were often 15mins because he’d been running late & we’d be charged for a 45 minute session. Unfortunately, we needed to stick with Dr Yeung because the therapist my son was seeing couldn’t prescribe medication. Eventually, my son had a breakdown & needed to be hospitalized. In our time of crisis Dr Yeung was useless. He gave me bad advice & just generally didn’t know what to do. In retrospect I believe that following Dr Yeung’s advice at that time led to further trauma for my son, that he still deals with today. This has been confirmed by several other mental health professionals that we’ve met in my son’s journey. When I called his office he… was often unavailable and wouldn’t return the call. On the very rare occasions when I did get in touch with him he’d accuse me of not keeping him in the loop with what was going on while my son was in the hospital, even although he’d been my first call. He’d then proceed to give me the same old generalizations and rhetoric. When my son was admitted to hospital we always gave Dr Yeung’s information & contact details & not once did he call the hospital Dr’s to discuss diagnosis & way forward once my son came home. Fortunately, my son is doing much better now, but even after a couple of years of not having to deal with Dr Yeung his inept manner is still something that had a huge impact on our family & my son’s journey. The only reason I wrote this review was that after more than 2 years of not dealing with Dr Yeung his name still looms large in my son’s therapy sessions as one of the instigators of trauma. My perspective is he just went through the motions, didn’t deal with specific patient issues, fell back on medication. Didn’t update treatment methods as new treatments were introduced or patient showed signs of deterioration. And worst of all, at times of absolute need when a patient is in crisis he completely dropped the ball.

I have been a patient of Dr. Will and he is the worst doctor I've had. He consistently runs late, but does not take time with his patients; he charges me for a full session but spends under ten minutes with me. When I tried to express my feelings, he flat-out laughed at what I said on several occasions, which is simply unprofessional and hurtful. Dr. Will does not provide any helpful feedback or assistance and is only there to rush through the session and prescribe medication. He hurts more than helps. Would not recommend.

Completely flip flopped on my diagnosis which gave me even more trauma. Difficult to talk to, doesn’t provide any form of talk therapy to guide you in your medication. Consistently late to meetings which has always seemed extremely unprofessional to me.

If you would like to be diagnosed with 20 different mental illnesses your don’t have then he’s your man! He will attack your child until they cry and will never be on time. Overall this man is horrible at his job I don’t know how he has a degree still.

My children really adored him and as parents we do too. Great doctor who explains everything to us. Couldn't have picked a better doctor and the group of doctors in his office.

Dr. Yeung is by far the best adolescent psychiatrist that I have ever worked with!
