Dr. Willard Dale Ruth, DO

I waited for 2 years to finally get I to see Dr. Ruth because I had hears so many wonderful things regarding his care for people. They finally called me and I was very happy. I started seeing him and was actually very pleased. He listened, spent more than enough time with me, was honest, and I was happy. THEN a nurse practitioner came in to help him. They split his patients and I seemed to be one of the "lucky" ones to move to this new practicioner. I say that sarcastically because FIRST I was NOT given the choice! Nobody asked me if I had a preference! I had waited over 2 years!!! I mentioned this to the front desk and the nurse practicioner. I was basically told "oh well". Since I had waited so long, I decided to stay with this office. AGAIN, in the middle of my situations and diagnosis, SHE LEAVES! A new doctor comes in!!! Guess what? I have no choice but to go with him. The first appointment was a disaster. I was told that I was on all the wrong medicines and… basically the nurse practicioner was wrong. I went back 3 more times after that and was told, "if you become my patient" I don't believe in this or that. He is strictly textbook! I'm sorry but not everything is textbook!!! He sat at a small table and typed on his laptop. If I spoke he was angry and told me to be quiet until he was done! I explained how I was feeling and he kept telling me about depression. I have a serious thyroid disease and can only take one medicine for it and he refused to fill it because he says, "I don't do natural meds or anything out of the textbook!" He told me at my second appointment that I was fat and referred me to a run down huge car! I cried after that one! I go back a few months later and had dropped 40 pounds. He says, "I honestly did not think you would do it, nor take care of yourself! Wow! Again, never really listened to me and sat typing on the stupid laptop! He wouldn't order lab work, nor follow through on anything. I could go on and on.... When I first walked in this office the ladies working at the front were so nice, respectful, and cared. By this time, they complained even to us on the phone. The office is disorganized and I heard patients talking that they were done! NO, do NOT choose this office as your primary care doctor! Since I have left it has been so much better. I love my new doctor and am finally getting diagnosed and feeling better everyday! Dr. Ruth does not seem to care anymore and has cut his hours. The office is open wacky times!

One of the worst run offices ever. Dr. Ruth seems good but his staff are almost stealing from him they are that terrible.

Dr. Ruth is the most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever been to. He takes his time to listen and explain anything that I have questions about. Contrary to other posts, he has responded in emergency situations and does refer to specialists as needed. He has always taken care of me like a real person and NOT just another number like some docs do. I also think the office staff is wonderful. The ladies in the office are always really nice in person and on the phone. The wait time is a little long, but I've never been to a doctor that's seen me on time. I highly recommend Dr. Ruth.

i have read other comments and they are not referring to the Dr. Ruth I know. He never rushes, explains everything to you and even though you may not agree with the diagnosis - he is correct! We've been going to him since he opened and have never had a complaint; just wish he was associated with Kenmore Mercy Hospital - but I can live with that.

I have only seen Dr. Ruth three times and so far we are happy with him.There are new doctors at his office, but I have not had the occasion to see them.

The office staff is pompous and arrogant and treat you like dirt. His office hours are reduced and now has a PA which is not a doctor contrary what they say. His office staff is out of touch and they lie instead of getting the right information. I am looking for a new doctor that has a better grasp of medicine and has a staff that has a clue.

I had gone to the ER due to chest/abdominal pain, and saw Dr. Ruth for a follow up. He told me that I had probably eaten too much greasy food. After I explained that I eat a very healthy diet (no fried/greasy food) he again said I had probably eaten too much rich or greasy food. He didn't seem to listen to me or to try to get to the root of the problem.

I have never in my life been treated like I was by Dr. Ruth's staff. In my attempt to make a appointment the first woman I spoke to called through the office asking if anyone else would deal with me because she "just could'nt" I was not rude at all and never would be I think I would reserve all emotions while doing something as meaningless as making a doctors appointment. After noone in the office would "rescue" her from me she did what you would expect and hung up on me. I called back and apparently the crazy one had backup now and they all treated me with the exact same disrespect. Get a grip ladies and try not to get emotional over something so trivial.

I have going to Dr. Ruth for approximately 30 years. Even after leaving Grand Island 15 years ago and moving to the southtowns, I still go back to Dr Ruth. I have never had a problem getting referrals from Dr Ruth. The reason you wait sometimes is that he takes his time with his patients.
