Dr. Ackerman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Athens. Dr. Ackerman graduated with his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa and performed his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham/Eye Foundation Hospital. He has lived in Gainesville, Georgia since 1994 with his wife and three daughters. Dr. Ackerman is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who has been a leader in adopting and implementing the latest technologies relating to cataract and vision correction surgery, not only in the State of Georgia, but on a National level. He also has extensive training in glaucoma therapy which he received through working with the top international glaucoma specialists. He has been involved with international relief missions restoring sight in underprivileged parts of the world. Dr. Ackerman has performed tens of thousands of surgical procedures, including but not limited to laser vision correction, cataract …removal, corneal transplants, glaucoma and eyelid surgery.
