Dr. William Atkinson, DO, discovered his passion for science during his time at Pleasant Plains High School in central Illinois. This fascination with science, coupled with a desire to help others, led him to pursue a career in Optometry. After completing his undergraduate degree in biology at Springfield College in Illinois and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1988, Dr. Atkinson went on to earn his doctorate in optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1992.Since then, Dr. Atkinson has been dedicated to providing exceptional eye care to his patients. He began his career at Woodstock Eye Care and Pearle Vision before establishing Atkinson Eye Care in 1994. Dr. Atkinson specializes in primary care optometry, building long-lasting relationships with patients of all ages. His particular interests include fitting specialty contact lenses, such as scleral contacts for corneal abnormalities, Ortho K lenses for myopia management in children, and bifocal contacts for …patients needing both distance and near vision correction.Continuing his commitment to improving access to eye care, Dr. Atkinson recently expanded his practice to include Eye Care at Home services for homebound or assisted living patients.
