Dr. William E Aufox, MD

Firstly I want to say that the nurses and staff here are very friendly and professional. I CANNOT however say the same for Dr. Aufox himself. I had seen Dr. Aufox as my primary care physician for 5+ years. During most of this time span, I never really experienced any serious health concerns. The moment that fact changed, Dr. Aufox DID not take me seriously at all. I beg and pleaded with this man for a referral to see a neurologist... based on the months of symptoms I had been experiencing. He refused to do so. He simply blamed EVERYTHING on "anxiety". He was very very wrong.. which I eventually learned in the end... once I got another primary care physician. One who ACTuALLY listened to me. See, because I am a naturally nervous person (in particular when talking to doctors) I often have problems getting my words out correctly and precise. So since this was INCREDIBLY serious to me I wrote down all of the symptoms / issues I was experiencing. Some of them being VERY serious… neurological concerns. I'm not sure why but I feel like my list annoyed him or something.. he just very quickly went down the list and disregarded EVERYTHING, blaming it ALL on anxiety. And the tone he had while doing it was the worst part, I had never felt so hopeless in my life. Example: "Daily muscle spasms (which i can literally see through my skin) that are so intense they jolt me awake. " "Grip strength is VERY weak - my hands are ABNORMALLY cold daily no matter what" "Numb hands, pain on the right side of my face" ---- "That is your anxiety, this is all N O R M A L" ---- I was amazed. With this awful tone in his voice, he went down my entire list and shot down everything - he then ignored my request to be referred to a neurologist then proceeded in trying to prescribe me an antidepressant. As I mentioned. It turned out he was very wrong. Something ended up being very wrong. This man made my life a lot more difficult than it needed to be when the timeline TRULY mattered. Dr Aufox was a huge setback for me during a serious time of need. If you are considering this doctor and you wish to address any serious medical concerns, I strongly suggest you reconsider. (I would like to also note.. this is the only negative review I have ever left on google so i'm a pretty reasonable human...)

I've seen Aufox for 3 years and it has gotten worse each year that I've gone to him. I waited over an hour to be seen by him for about 15 minutes. Each concerned that I bring to him feels like it is dismissed, and he has very poor bedside manner. I will be switching doctors now after three years of poor care.

Dr Aufox has been my physian for over 20 years. He takes time to listen to you. He treats your symptoms correctly.

Dr Aufox care and customer service was excellent. I recently retired from the military. I have been cared for by doctors around the world. What stood out to me was he really listen and tells it like it is...true honesty...on how he can help me and how I can help myself. I would recommend him to my friends and family. Primarily, because he is very knowledgeable on a wide range of family medical problems. Also, it just very comfortable talking to him about any issues...the bottomline he takes care of your medical problems with premier service ...Period!

Dr. Aufox is not only knolwedgable about the science of medicine, he has outstanding people skills.

Dr. Aufox's office rarely answers the phone during business hours, and rarely returns phone calls. I have been left to fend for myself in severe pain, when I was wanting to get an appointment, change medications, or have a prescription refilled. Dr. Aufox misdiagnosed me as having headaches related to allergies or migraines, and sent me down the wrong path of taking numerous medications that were not helping, for three years. After doing my own research, and diagnosing myself properly to be suffering from cluster headaches (as confirmed by one of the top neurologists in the city), Dr. Aufox refused to treat me with oxygen and Imitrex (two of the main treatments that my research and the neurologist stated would be helpful) for my Cluster headaches. When I requested to be prescribed oxygen, he replied in a condescending manner, "You do not need oxygen. Your lungs work just fine. Take deep breaths." He waited three years to finally refer me to a specialist, and never admitted that he… obviously does not know anything about cluster headaches, and should have put me in another physician's care a long time ago. Dr. Aufox is fine to see if you have something simple, like a sinus infection. However, if you any issues that are more in depth than a sinus infection, save yourself time, money, pain, and frustration, by seeing a different doctor.
