Dr. William James Butler, MD

Very biased and wishes Democrats dead.

I love Dr. Butler! I have endometriosis and had an exploratory surgery. He made sure I understood the procedure and had a wonderful staff (many of whom have been through treatment also) who answered any and all questions that I had. He was always very professional and is very knowledgeable. One month after my first surgery I went to the ER due to a ectopic pregnancy and had to have emergency surgery. Another Dr in his office was actually taking care of me then but he came to the hospital at 5am just to be in the OR during my surgery to make me feel more comfortable. He was very concerned and caring about my situation and made me feel a little better and taken care of during a really hard time. I would recommend him to anyone!

I was with Dr. Butler for 3.5 years and thought that he was doing everything to help me. He did a few different procedures ( expensive) over that time period. I experienced several miscarriages while in his care. He promised that there was nothing wrong with them . He said he had ran every possible test and that it was just bad luck. We even did the geno typing ($$$$). He told me all that was left was IvF, after he still could not tell me why i was miscarrying. When i told the office that i was getting a second opinion and ask for my records to be sent over i was then told that they would no longer answer any of my questions or give me any help. Only 1 visit with another DR. and him looking at my chart did it take to realize that I was lacking sever simple blood test to rule out several things that cause early miscarriages. One blood test and he knew what was wrong with me. If it is something simple like and iui then Dr. Butler is good at that. Other… wise I would not go to him. His office staff is ok. Some are nice and some are rude. I loved Cynthea. She is really caring and understand. Mrs. Dee was a nice lady too but she is not the best at labs. Your wait time will depend upon the day. usually it is around 10 minutes but at times( very few) i had to wait close to 1 hour. Dr. Travis McCoy is a much better dr. He is in Albany. It is well worth the drive.

Dr. Butler has absolutely hardly any compassion for his patients. He has medical students in your consultation which look at you with a stone cold glare. They are in your medical appointments craning their heads to see every detail as though you are a science experiment. He does not ask you if it is okay for them to be there and the office acts like you have no choice in the matter when you request for them not to be there. He charges 80 cents per page for medical records to be sent to another doctor but of course they don't tell you this ahead of time. The office staff can be seen rolling their eyes during phone conversations with patients and discussing how ridiculous they are with the other staff. This is what I encountered when waiting to see the doctor. I felt as though Dr. Butler based his medical choices 50% on science and 50% on making money. My fertility journey was not presented to me as choice but rather as you can do this or you can do nothing. I totally would not… recommend this doctor but I will highlight the good points for those who are still interested. The nurses are caring and friendly. Dr. Butler seems intelligent. You never have to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes. He is the only fertility doctor in the central GA area.

I would recommend Dr. Butler to anyone. My surgery went very well and the incision was beautiful. He's really thorough and knows what he's doing. Also, his office staff is wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor.
