Dr. William Y Chen, MD

Very bad experience with this doctor. He put me on one medication for treating stomach pain. I called to ask a couple of side effect related questions after taking the medicine, and mentioned this drug is not covered by my insurance so quite expensive. He was very impatient and literally yelling at me and said "stop calling me to complain about the cost. I don't know which drug is covered by your insurance" and then he hanged up. I was totally terrified. I didn't complain about anything. I just wanted to explore if there was an alternative drug. If that is the right and only medicine, I will take it regardless of the cost. However, the way he talked to me is so unprofessional as a doctor and rude as a person. After that, there is no way for me to go back to him. As a patient, we need a doctor who is not only treating the patients with professional skills but also respect and patience. I will find another GI doctor.

He knows his stuff. Not the best personality (not bad though) but very smart and acurate clinician.

I have been very happy dealing w/ Dr. Chen. He has a very pleasant and low key manner. Spends a good amount of time with you and will answer all of your questions. I have never felt rushed. Most importantly, I feel like I have a partner where we make decisions together...his knowledge and takes my input into account too. Recommended!

A rush to get me in and out. Didn't listen to my new symptoms; based diagnosis on past history and was wrong. Will not go back.
