Dr. William Wesley Cook III, MD

A little over 4 years ago, I saw Dr Cook. He diagnosed me with a recurring lung disease. 3 months later, I had a follow up with his Nurse/PA, (billed at full price as though I had seen the dr. A recurring practice). About a year later, I called in for a prescription refill. A few months ago, I began applying for VA disability on a number of issues. Needing a statement from the Dr, I called in and was told I was considered a NEW patient and would have to have a complete new exam. It took 6 weeks to get an appointment. While in the waiting room we watched an 80 year old woman be berated by nursing staff for missing her appointment. Her excuse was, she had been in the hospital. She needed a prescription refill. They refused to refill it and set her a new appointment for 3 weeks away, then sent her away. Lovely. During the exam, at one point, after indicating he was aware of the forms and how to fill them out, he made a statement to the effect of, "It is sad what people have to do to… get by financially these days". I do better than get by, and I have Cadillac insurance. After dinging my insurance $600 for a new exam, I was sent to DLO. When I arrived, they asked if I was sure I needed a spinal tap, as that was what the order was for. They called the nurse to confirm, and her response was, " HaHa. Oh, my bad. No, he just needs 1 vial of blood." Six weeks, 2 emails, and 3 phone calls later, I can finally pick up the report. Another $30, (out of pocket). When I get it, it shows I have the lung disease and some additional issues. What it does not say is the one thing my representative said it needs to state for it to qualify. "In my professional opinion, it is as likely as not", (a very non-committal statement), "the condition was caused by or aggravated by his service". When I asked the nurse who brought it out about this, she went back and asked him. The reply was, "I don't feel comfortable putting that in writing". I don't feel comfortable with the lung disease I have had for the last 10 years either. I could only have been exposed during my active Naval service. The receptionist is rude, the woman who takes your money is even more rude. I believe Dr. Cook has a good medical knowledge. However, my wife (also his patient) and I will never go back due to the way we and others have been treated on a consistent basis.

2-1/2 hour wait per office that is the norm. usually see PA not dr but both is 2-1/2 wait. each.

Dr. Cook saved my sister- in- law several times so when I started having lung issues a few yrs back I started going to him.. I have COPD due to inhalents that were used at my work. He knows what he is doing.. Very intelligent, hates the government interfering!

I saw 4 pulmonologists before seeing Dr. Cook. He was the only one who correctly diagnosed a rare lung condition that was making me very ill. None of the other doctors even considered the possibility of this disease .
