Dr. William Davidson III, MD

First of all I didn’t choose him the staff did. But I thought I’ve always been treated well there in the past by my old doctor so when he left I will give him a chance. I meet him for the 1st time and I went to shake his hand and said it was nice to meet you but he turned and walked out. So I thought well maybe he’s having a bad day we all have them. Then this year in May I started having some health issues and I called his office to make an appointment. He said he was going to order bloodwork I thought ok. Then he ordered 1 breath test, then another. I said when I had issues like this before I would come in get medicine and be better in a week or so. Well a couple months go by and still ordered more test and couldn’t get him to see me. Well tried to find another doctor but my records where never sent. So now having surgery at Mayo in Rochester. They said it wouldn’t of gotten this bad if I had it taken care of sooner. Ummm I tried!!!! I definitely definitely would not recommend Dr… Davidson!!!!!

Long wait time, still waiting to see doctor or any information, even after they took my husband in for procedure!

Worst dr. ever! Berates hospital nurses; didn't follow protocol in waiting 3 hours between enema and colonoscopy so result was "murkey" (his words), which was HIS fault; plus asked my ill parent what heart drugs she took that day...while she was in the hospital under the influence of pain medication!! Read your patient charts much?? Wow!!

Dr. Davidson is proficient in performing scopes, but beyond that he has a poor bedside manner. I developed a more serious condition that required more care, he was basically unavailable to help me, and ignored my health needs. Had to switch to another GI doctor to get the care I needed. Would not recommend Dr. Davidson.

After upper GI he instructed me to keep taking OTC Ranitdine. But a script is lower cost for Medicare part D patient. So had to call back for a script. A Dr who pays attention to his patients status in life knows this and asks if patient needs a script. While in the office he spent ample time and when asked he would look up questions he couldn't answer on his phone because, he said, he subscribes to an organization that gives him credits toward his medical ongoing education when he uses it. He responded to my letters a couple times by reviewing my file and filling in the blanks and once his nurse called back with his response to my questions point by point. But when you call up with a problem it's doubtful that his nurse writes everything down so when you get a response from the Dr. Via the nurse you don't get an acceptable response. Plus when calling in with a question Dr Davidson doesn't seem to refer back to your file to see what you have already tried which in my case… resulted in the same thing he said before which didn't work. When the nurse calls with the results of your radiology report she doesn't tell you everything. Remember on "mygenesis.com" you can read your own radiology reports. He tries...but doesn't always cover everything. And when I compare his care plan of my health issue it doesn't always agree with what I read on pubmed and other medical or .org sites. Like a lot of physicians these days..It seems...you have to do your own research. They ask a ton if questions on all that paperwork you have to fill out but they don't even look at half of it.

Horrible bedside manner, uncaring and dismissive.

A bunch of uptight rude people, especially the staff, in person or on the phone. Davidson was even rude to the hospital staff during a procedure I had.

When we arrived at the Center for Digestive Health in Bettendorf are 2 doors you come to after you walk through the front door. Neither is clearly marked where a new patient would go for their initial consultation appointment. No one was stationed at the front desk when we arrived so we ended up waiting for more than several minutes in the wrong waiting room. To make a long story short, Dr Davidson gave us the impression he didnâ??t have time to sit with us to listen to symptoms â?? or spent much time reviewing our records - and as a matter of fact he left the room â?? we thought to check with his staff about a fax we were expecting, yet he did not return and several times and the nurse had to leave to find him because we still had questions. My husband had already â?? unintentionally lost over 25 pounds because of his problems swallowing. We asked Dr Davidson if it could be a particular disease, called Acalasia and his response was â??I have been doing this for 20 years and Iâ??ve… only seen 4 cases of that and itâ??s only in older peopleâ?? Maybe had he reviewed the disk with the barium swallow images we brought he would have had a better idea on a diagnosis and we wouldnâ??t have had to spend more time waiting while my husband got more dehydrated and malnourished. In trying to get Dr Davidsonâ??s office to expedite an appointment with the University of Iowa City I left messages with the nurse at Dr Davidsons office that did not get returned for more than a couple days, the scheduling person, Kelly was just RUDE and snotty. After University of Iowa reviewed my husband records and realized the severity of the situation he was given a pressure test that day to confirm he does in fact have type II achalasia. I wouldnâ??t recommend this Dr or any Dr that canâ??t take the time to listen to his patients or care enough to review the information they provide.

Dr. Davidson is thorough and cares about his patients. He will answer any questions you have about your condition. I would recommend him to anyone in need of his specialty.

I concur with the previous comment that this doctor is only interested in MONEY. Both my wife and I went to him for different problems and he seemed to ignore those problems and order a colonoscopy for me and a endoscopy for my wife. This is convenient as these are done in his office and not in a hospital. We also overheard him berating his staff that they were not turning the patients over fast enough as it was taking 10 minutes instead of the 7 minutes he wanted.
