Dr. William B. Farrar
Dr. William Farrar is a native of Richmond, Virginia and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 1975. He completed his Doctor in Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia and the residency program in Periodontics at the Medical College of Georgia in 1983. Dr. Farrar is an active Diplomat of the Board of Periodontology, gaining his Certificate in 1994. He has completed numerous continuing education courses and practicums in implant dentistry and in the field of bone grafting. Dr. Farrar has also been a part-time faculty member for the general practice residency program at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital from 1985 until 1997. His honorary awards during his academic training include membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Zeta, and recognition of the American College of Stomatologic Surgeons.
Dr. Farrar is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of …Periodontology, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, the South Carolina Society of Periodontics, the Central District Dental Society, the Greater Columbia Dental Association, the Buck Pennel Periodontal Alumni Association, the Palmetto Study Club, the South Carolina Academy of Dental Practice Administration and the Dental Diagnostic Study Club. He has been a past President of the Greater Columbia Dental Society, the South Carolina Society of Periodontics, the Palmetto Study Club, and the Medical College of Georgia Periodontal Alumni Association. He is a current officer of the South Carolina Academy of Dental Practice Administration.
Dr. Farrar is happily married to his wife, Barbara, and enjoys raising six children – three boys and three girls. Bill and Barbara enjoy traveling, scuba diving, University of Virginia football games and Bill also enjoys golf and jogging.
