My goals for my professional life and care for my patients are focused on continual learning.  I have averaged over 100 hours of continuing education per year over the past 10 years.  In comparison, the state of Virginia only requires 15 hours per year. I look for learning opportunities from credentialed leaders in dentistry so that I can provide my patients with the best care that research and experience have to offer.
"Standing on the shoulders of Giants" is my philosophy in studying with both national and international masters of dental esthetics and function.  In this manner, I am able to differentiate between marketing hype and actual benefit.
Although I have an extensive background in all aspects of dentistry, I have maintained my focus on comprehensive treatment planning for complex cases, including esthetic and functional improvements.  This allows me to concentrate on the end result of each case while other members of our team support the case with …their own specialized expertise.  I am the mouth "architect".
I truly enjoy my chosen profession and find it unique in that it allows me to pair my interest in health and science with my eye for art and esthetics. It also allows me to interact with and improve the lives of my patients of all ages. Whether it's educating children and families on preventative dental care or completely restoring a smile, dentistry brings me and my team a chance to make a difference in someone's life and overall health and well-being.
My goals for my personal life closely resemble those I have for my professional life…to make a difference and leave the world a better place than I found it. My wife and I have three amazing children and I choose to center my time and interests on activities with them. When not in the office, you can often find me coaching youth basketball and soccer, where I am excited to help children experience the thrill and confidence that comes with overcoming challenges. I also enjoy the beautiful coastline of Southeastern Virginia and Eastern North Carolina, and the wonderful boating, fishing, surfing, and beachcombing Mother Nature has to offer.
As the son of a naval officer, I moved around frequently during my childhood. The transient lifestyle of the military enriched my life with valuable experiences and gave me unique perspectives. I do feel blessed to have found my way to Hampton Roads, where my wife was raised, to settle down, establish my practice, and raise my own family.
