Dr. William Barry Hillegass JR., MD

To make a long story short... I had to see Dr. Hillegass as my regular cardiologist wasn't available. I was 9 weeks post 3x bypass. I had experienced some pain in my chest and knew I needed to see my cardiologist. Dr. Hiiegrass ased me several questions even after reviewing my medical history. He was very easy to talk to. From his 20 plus years from putting stents in, he recognized my event as a graft failure from bypass. (Turns out it was actually 2. He immediately wanted lab work. It was around closing time for most labs in the Bham area including his lab. He personally called several labs and finally found a hospital lab that would do it. He got my cell number and gave me his and said he would call me when he heard from lab. He had ordered the results STAT. Called me later and gave me results and told me he had arranged for a bed at UAB and they would be calling me. They did, I went and turned out I had 2 bypasses that had nit grafted. My troponin level had gone fro 2.0 to 31. He… arranged for the best stent person and his team to come on a Saturday to do a Cath on me. That guy actually called Dr. Hillegass for his recommendation on my situation while I was on the table. They were able to fix my heart and I am doing well so far. I owe my life to a man who really cared and had the fortitude to diagnose a critical problem and arrange things himself. Thank You Dr. Hillegass...You Sir are my new Hero...!!!
