Dr. William Hughlett Kirkley, MD

He was a total uncaring jerk. I have had pain in my back for the past 8 months due to a bulging disc. He fairly simply stated that " back pain is a mystery to us" while smiling and chuckling. When I asked him what I can do he said very unconvincingly that we "could give you an epidural steroid shot" but it "more than likely wouldn't help." When asked about physical therapy he said that wouldn't work either. All with a very flippant attitude. He instilled absolutely zero confidence in me. And basically treated my as if I was faking it, at least the level of pain. He wouldn't commit to any for of treatment or even a possible plan of action. I had to ask for the steroid shot after he mentioned it. He seemed to prefer to not do anything. What he obviously doesn't understand is the "life sentence" he just casually handed me. I am 33, a father, and try to live an active lifestyle. This has been sidelined by the pain and fear of further damage to my back. At the very least he could have… educated me to the extent of my injury and potential for further damage. He was dismissive, arrogant, and simply no help at all. I left his office in a state of shock very close to tears. He may be great to older patients, he may have more empathy in those situations. But he treated my complaints as hopeless and unfounded.

Dr. Kirkley was very attentive, listened to me carefully and gave me his opinion on all of my options for treatment. I would refer Dr. Kirkley to anyone requiring the services of an Orthapedic Surgeon.
