Dr. William N. Levine, MD

Dr. Levine is a part-time provider who has contempt for his patients. He seems nice at first before any treatment is discussed which encourages a second appointment. He dabbles as he has no time to evaluate and understand a patient's injuries which is required to treat. There is an assistant who by chance will stop in after Levine leaves to diagnose and state surgery is needed if it is, for the limited injury under discussion. But Levine does not communicate with others in department, even assistant to learn of treatment needed for those who see him. He wants patients to tell him. I went to 2 others at same facility. Both had different views. Levine is removed from patient care and because he takes no interest and has no time did not know what abuse of my rights as a patient I endured. When others in the department together with my extensive efforts were made to fill him in as he is supposed to ensure patient care and professional conduct of providers under him, he refused to as much… as learn anything. He response is merely to send a letter to the patient stating they need treatment, which he does not mention in appt, and unethically after patient locates doctor who performs treatments that are precisely what a patient needs to thwart treatment ensuring increased harm. This is his way of saving time. He only wants to defend himself and he thinks writing to a patient to say they need treatment after saying nothing about in an appointment is all that he has to do. It is a breach of the duty of a doctor after acknowledging a patient's condition is worse to act to ensure treatment will be denied. Although under pressure to cease all patient involvement, he is so disinterested in Columbia Orthopedics he takes no steps to prevent patients from making appointments with the few bad apples who he knows will undermine a patient's health. What he does is tell a patient to go to a highly rated orthopedic specialty hospital if a patient wants professional and efficacious orthopedic care even knowing a patient came to Columbia Doctors ONLY because the specialty hospital is private and does not accept a patient's insurance. HSS is the hospital he recommends over Columbia Orthopedics if a patient has the insurance needed. But this doctors attempts to ensure a patient goes downhill and his frivolous attempt to justify it for which there is no support and a transparent attempt to shirk duty and put public at risk and act in hospital's disinterest is what is beneath the smile that he plasters all over the internet. THIS IS A HIGH RISK PROVIDER. That he knows he does not do the complex shoulder surgery a patient needs any competent manager and doctor would volunteer the right doctor to see. It compromises his ego too much who wants gratification most undeserved. I was actually scared at the damage I would have suffered if I did not know better. There are providers with integrity here but when abusing patients Levine ignores it.

Dr.Levine replaced my shoulder. The procedure and recovery went as he said it would. Dr. Levine and his staff are so incredibly helpful and responsive.

I am a patient of Dr Levine. I had shoulder replacement March 2, 2023 and am very pleased at the Progress. Dr Levine has a wonderful bedside manner and made me feel comfortable in selecting him for my surgery. I would recommend Dr Levine for any person who requires shoulder surgery.

I first saw Dr Levine on 11/21/22 for debilitating right shoulder pain I had been having for approximately 9 months, making sleep difficult. He and his resident and medical student all examined me and came to the conclusion that I had bursitis. Although as a nurse myself it didn’t seem like the correct diagnosis, he claimed my X-ray appeared totally normal and recommended that I see another doctor in the practice, Dr Morgan Busko, for possible cortisone shots into the site. I saw Dr Busko on 12/7/22, and after her exam she determined that cortisone injections were an appropriate treatment to try and alleviate the pain and inflammation. She injected it into several areas in the right shoulder blade. I had relief from the pain a few days later, and it lasted for approximately 1 1/2-2 weeks, but the pain then returned. I went back to her on 1/25/23 with the intention of doing more cortisone, but at that point the pain was traveling down my right arm into my forearm, so based on her exam… and my complaint she recommended I get an MRI. The MRI was done the following week, on 1/31/23, and the radiologists report was posted in my chart online by that Friday. As a nurse I was able to decipher the multiple issues, a tear in the labrum as well as a small tear in one of the rotator cuff tendons along with all four rotator cuff tendons showing signs of aging/overuse. I did my research and found a procedure that was done arthroscopically that seemed like a great fit to both heal the tears along with slightly reversing the wear and tear on the tendons. I called Dr Levine’s office back to schedule a follow up and discuss options. A telemedicine appointment was scheduled for the following Friday, 2/10/23. At that point they had not called me to discuss the results. I signed in for my telemedicine appointment ten minutes early, following office directions. The page I was on told me to hold on that the doctor would be with me shortly. By 20 minutes after appointment time I figured something was wrong so I went back to the directions and saw it said to have zoom downloaded also. Nothing saying to go through zoom for the appointment, only to go through the my chart app. But I gave it a go with zoom and there he was, and apparently annoyed at what he perceived was my tardiness. He never explained the results of the MRI. When I told him I had seen the radiology report he very curtly replied that he had more importantly seen the images. Never informed me what he saw, so I told him I had done research and was curious if he did bioinductive collagen patches. He curtly informed me that that is a surgical procedure and he is not treating what I have surgically. So I then asked if he even does that procedure and repeated that he he does but he will not do that on my injury. He then tells me that I need a cervical MRI. No explanation, no going over why he felt that the tears in my shoulder were not the cause of my pain. And no discussion as to how he would like to treat the issues he saw on the images. And that was essentially the end of my visit. As of today, 3/6/23, the cervical MRI was denied by my insurance, which the radiology office informed me was the case, NOT Dr Levine’s office. So I am back to square one finding a doctor who actually listens and is able to put his ego aside, and I am still unable to sleep because of the debilitating pain. Dr Busko was lovely but she is unfortunately not a surgeon. I absolutely do not recommend Dr Levine, I would actually recommend that you go to anyone but him if you are looking for an orthopedist.

Dr. Levine and his team were fantastic. His diagnostic skills were impressive. He made the diagnosis quickly and was right on target. His team is a real asset, they work well with patients and ensure that they have all the information they need, have the prescriptions necessary and are available for questions. Dr. Levine did my surgery and I had a beyond excellent results with a quicker than expected recovery. Dr. Levine has excellent patient interactions, was compassionate and a great listener.

I went to see Dr. Levine and, all in all, he seemed completely disinterested in my knee problem. He was in and out fast, and really didn’t seem to care at all

After living with a very painful shoulder for severaI years I finally bit the bullet and looked into having surgery. Dr. Levine came highly recommended, and now one year later I can attest that he did not disappoint. From the beginning he and his staff were compassionate, empathetic, and professional. He laid out the timetable as to what I should expect, and the surgery and the recovery went just as he had explained. Today my shoulder feels good as new and I have been able to resume my life without the burden of constant pain. Thank you Dr. Levine!

Dr Levine has been exceptionally kind considerate and understanding it’s my year anniversary and I’m clean and free and ready for battle with Fishing exercise and work

I am not an athlete but ended up needing a reverse shoulder replacement. I tried everything to avoid surgery to no avail. Dr. Levine is a true professional who cares about his patients. He spent a lot of time explaining the operation to me and answered my many questions. His staff is very good to work with and extremely professional as well. It has been 13 months since my surgery and my shoulder is better than ever. Additionally, I referred Dr. Levine to a friend who is a doctor's wife. Her shoulder surgery went as well as mine and her outcome is excellent. I highly recommend Dr. Levine.
