Dr. William D. Long, MD

Dr. William D. Long III, MD is a dedicated orthopedic spine surgeon at Genesis Orthopaedic and Spine in New Jersey. 

Having trained at some of the most prestigious schools and hospitals in the country, Dr. Long has made the practice of spinal surgery his primary focus. After years in Philadelphia, New Haven, and New York City, he has moved to the Manhattan suburbs in northern New Jersey and operates at multiple hospitals, including Hackensack University Medical Center and Hudson Regional Hospital. His award-winning achievements throughout his career highlight his dedication to excellent patient care, evidence-based medicine, and optimal surgical outcomes.

Dr. Long believes in the importance of rigorous medical education and, as such, continues to publish book chapters and scholarly journal articles focused on spinal disease and treatment. He also teaches the next generation of doctors, having previously been an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the …Hackensack-Meridian School of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Long has experience in the following procedures, among others: ACD (with fusion or disc replacement), microdiscectomy, minimally invasive fusions, and microdecompressions.

Dr. Long’s philosophy on patient care centers on the doctor-patient relationship. Despite rigorous hours and strong focus on surgery, he understands the gravity of patient autonomy and the need to tailor a treatment plan that works for his patients. Commonly, surgery is never the first option without first exploring all of the non-surgical treatments available.
