Dr. William J. Maloney, MD

Dr. Maloney came highly recommended to me by another orthopedic surgeon I trust implicitly. I cannot speak to his expertise, but I would bet it is well above others'. The problem I have is with the Administration at the Center. The ineptitude of the admin staff has cost me hundreds of dollars in lost time and expenses. This happened twice to me, and I live about a 4 hour drive from the center, and I wasted my time getting there, changed my schedule in a significant manner, only to be told upon arrival, that the Dr. was not in the office. I was given $40.00 in gas coupons as consolation...The second time, after meeting with the Dr., when I was scheduling my service I was treated with significant disrespect by the intake person. During the scheduling, this woman left me to help someone else, and although I expressed a desire that she take care of me before helping another, I was told "It would only take 5 minutes." 15 minutes later she returned with not so much as an acknowledgement… of the excessive delay. She seemed more concerned about covering her backside than helping me negotiate the bureaucracy of Stanford, and this delay added a good 60 - 90 minutes to my return drive, due to rush hour traffic getting through the Bay Area and beyond. The blatant disregard for my needs was apparent. When I brought the 1st incident to Dr. Maloney's attention, Dr. Maloney apologized to me, but it rang hollow. I lost days and hundreds of dollars due to the inefficiency of people running the front end. And, the "take it or leave it" approach regarding pre-op protocol pretty much said it all. I mean the place would not even bend on when I might receive a phonecall setting up the surgery...Sheesh! He (Dr. Maloney) may be good, but the people the public meets before meeting him are sadly lacking in effectiveness and professionalism. So...I still need a joint replacement, and I doubt Dr. Maloney will be my surgeon...costing Stanford hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue. Shame.

Best and most fantastic Orthopaedic Doctor through out the entire nation. Safest Doctor ever in the world regarding any Orthopaedic issue, I wouldn't think twice about entrusting his knowledge to myself or anyone else. Thank you!

Dr. William Maloney has given me back my life: six months after the procedure I donâ??t remember that I have a bionic joint. I can focus on my life, and take care of my children and go to work like a normal, pain free person. Maloneyâ??s knowledge and appropriate technique for his patients allow him to choose the best of the best implants aligning them with the patientâ??s way of life. Thank you all at Stanford from the bottom of my heart.

Dr. Maloney just pushes surgery. I don't think he cares about patients. He must be getting kickbacks from the drug and implant companies.

Very pompous and arrogant. Dismissed questions as if they were beneath him. Treated me like I was stupid, and I am a Ph.D.

Dr. Maloney is a great doctor, know what he is doing and did an exelent job with my left knee replacement. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Maloney is a fabulous surgeon with a highly dedicated team of quality residents and fellows.
