Bad bedside manners. Operates out of a bad hospital in Rockhill. Did not release me from hospital untill evening time, therefore could not fill prescriptions till next day. Hospital would not give any pain meds to hold me overnight. I had a hip replacement. My butt cheek looks like half is cut out. I have a large hole. When sitting I squirm because a muscle in my leg by lower butt feels very taught. This is still after years.

As I see someone else mentioned before.. very rude did not take the time to greet or ask how things were and did not care to put much effort into diagnosing the injury. Very rushed, rude remarks, and nothing accomplished. End result = complete waste of time and money..

his office has a very rude call center. I called to make an appointment for a calf/hamstring strain and was told that no new issues at beginning of the day even though this has been done for me before because of my work schedule. I then tried to call the referral line to get a recommendation for a different doctor practice(ortho) and that lady was even ruder than the first operator! I was trying to ask her not only for a referral but how to appropriately fill a survey out(survey is on their website.) She said you will need to talk to scheduling. WHY??? Can this person not help me fill out a survey properly to make sure it gets to someone who can address the issues I have? Then she transferred me in the middle of my next sentence which was "Can you put me through to someone who will recommend to me another practice since I have asked you twice now and you won't? I plan on letting EVERYONE know how I was treated by your office call center and ask them to reconsider using your office

Horrible is the only word that can describe my experience with "Dr" McCarthy. I sustained a back injury at work and was referred to him by my employer for a follow-up visit. I have never met a doctor for the first time without him/her extending their hand to mine for a quick handshake or a simple smile and "hello". He did neither. He entered the room, sat down, and with an irritation apparent on his face, began the consult. So fine, maybe he was having a bad day, his lunch sucked or his panties were in a wad, but I digress. During the examination of my VERY recently injured back, he pressed so lightly that I could scarcely tell he was touching me. He asked about my pain level during that time and I told him that no pain was felt. Shockingly, what I felt next was his fist firmly striking my back in the exact spot where I was injured. It was so hard that I nearly lost my balance. What kind of physician thinks that this is an appropriate way to check for pain? He then left the… room without a word. I am livid at the way that I was treated and can only assume that I am not the first. I simply needed a follow-up exam to make sure that I could return to work without the possibility of re-injuring my back. Thanks to "Dr" McCarthy, by the time I got home I was in more pain than I had been before my appointment with him. Bedside manner and treatment are horrible! I wouldn't let this man treat me again if my very life depended on it.

he is straight forward (which I like) he is compassionate. He speaks and explains in a way a layman can understand. He did my back surgery and is helping me now so that I don't have to have another surgery.

I found Dr. McCarthy to be a very straight forward, to the point, and very knowledgable. He was able to pinpoint my problem without playing around. If you are looking for someone to chat with, he is not for you. But if you want someone who will diagnose you and get you out of the office without spending all day there, then he is the one! Fantastic, nice, and very knowledgable!

He is a man's man. Seemed like I didn't seem worth the efforts. My husband had a better visit with him, and diagnois, and had surgery with him. So go figure
