Dr. William Joseph Mccune, MD

Hi! Two year jra survivor here. In 2014, I came back to University of Michigan Health Systems, at that time, I could barely walk around the block. Dr. MCCune has fixed my issues all of them the first few appointments. For Dr. McCune there is a 2-3 waitlist to get in. There are people who are jumping at the bit to get in. There is no physician burnout here. Dr McCune’s staff is amazing. Personally, i’m rather embarrassed that I had no idea that this program is nationally ranked . University of Michigan Rheumatology is nationally ranked, but should be ranked higher than #12 . You had physicians that came from one of the top # 5 program in the country such as Harvard Medicine for their Rheumatology Fellowship. Dr. McCune has helped my family, and myself immensely. He was positive about my treatment plan and never lost faith. Never indicated I was a lost cause. He has picked other Michigan department heads for my care. He is very funny, sweet, and kind. He has given me the time and… attention that I remember growing up at Mott Children’s Hospital which is also at Michigan. He always wants to help me get better and he is encouraging. I always look forward to going to “campus” as he calls it. I cannot say thank you enough.

Was not pleased with Dr. Mccune at all. Nice guy and polite but for sure has the "physician burn out." If you are complicated he is not your guy. He will not go above and beyond for you.

Dr. Mccune has been my doctor for over 15 years. I had been very ill in three other hospitals until I ended up at UofM where Dr. Mccune was a part of my team who finally was able to diagnose me with a type of RA. I have to travel a very long distance to see him and he works with me to be sure I have the best care possible. He works with me so I can get appointments when I am in Michigan.

This doctor mis-diagnosed me and was not very thorough at all. There are so many tests out there and he only ran the standard. He relied too heavily on my blood work and ignored all of my symptoms(many of which were serious and obvious). He was dismissive. It seemed like he was listening, but all he did was choose what he wanted to hear to fit with his (mis)diagnosis. I have since seen another rheumatologist who is wonderful and is helping me with my condition (LUPUS).

Dr. McCune is an outstanding physican, who cares for his patients. When one does not know what to do about a problem, he can analyze it and produce a solution. He is the doctor you need if you have serious issues. He is a "Top Gun Doctor".
