Dr. William Paschal Owen, MD

Dr. Owen was very good with my daughter. He spoke in a soft voice and was very patient with her. We had been through many Drs before seeing Dr. Owen. We finally got an accurate diagnosis and proper medication to help her.

He is the best doctor I have ever had.

I saw Dr. Owen as a patient in my late teens. He put me on several different medications that did not work. He suspected that I had bi polar (which you can not diagnose is anyone that young). I have not been on meds for 12 years. But I can tell you it was PTSD Dr. Owen not bipolar. I think it is funny that you have a concentration in eating disorders yet you are fat yourself. What a quack!

My son has been with Dr. Owen for over a year now and I was completely against any form of medication for my son's behavior. Dr. Owen listened and counseled BOTH of us. After 6 months I caved in and decided to try medication for his behavior and, what I came to understand, as his OCD plus depression. I have always LOVED my son dearly but now I ENJOY him so much more plus he seems to feel able to adapt to situations much easier. He still has some outbursts but they are age appropraite and tolerable for both of us. I DO reccommend Dr. Owen. The wait time is a pain but he is worth it. His secretary is honestly the sweetest person I have ever met.

The wait times are horrible, and Dr Owen doesn't seem to listen to what you are saying. If you have not seen results in 6 months on a medication or have side effects, we need it changed, not just say lets just see how this goes.... If you call with a problem and need to talk to him, the receptionist will call you back with about half an answer. His secretary couldn't be sweeter, she is very helpful, but I would NOT recommend him to anyone. He goes to too many facilities to spend time with any one patient more than 5-10 minutes. You can only get an appt 1-2 days a week period, because he travels from hospital to hospital. Its like drive thru treatment in my opinion.

My son has been seeing Dr Owen for 1 1/2 years and we have been through a lot. He diagnosed my son at the age of 4 as Bipolar and was right on target. We have been in and out of the hospital several times over the last year and Dr Owen was with my son daily through those visits. It was the hardest thing I have ever gone through but Dr Owen has been with us in each step of the way. I can honestly say I dont know where we would be without him.

I honestly do not know why Dr Owen is in the field of child psychiatry because he doesn't really seem to like children. Every visit he spends more time telling the kids not to touch things rather than interacting with them. He has only spoken to my son twice and prefers to speak to me instead. He never seems to run on time and I have waited well over an hour past my son's appointment time waiting to see him. You just cannot do that with children especially children who are waiting to see a psychiatrist. They don't have the patience. I also feel rushed when we finally do see him. There have been times (after waiting and waiting) that we were in his office for less than five minutes before he ended the discussion and stood up to indicate that the session was over. We are looking for a new doctor.
