Dr. William Jason Parker

We had to go into Saint Thomas Rutherford for an emergency C-section at just under 34 weeks gestation. Our little girl had to be resuscitated. These circumstances were going to require a long road to recovery at best. Her prognosis was not looking good! I thank God for Dr Parker! He was there from the beginning and all the way to the end! Unfortunately, we lost our little girl 36 hours after birth, but Dr Parker and the NICU staff were there doing absolutely everything they could to give our little girl the best chance at life! He explained everything along the way and he was our rock during such a difficult time! He went way above the job title! Not only an amazing doctor for our daughter, but he was there for us as parents in any way that he could be! He was there for us in ways that can't be described in a simple review! This was the hardest time of our lives! Losing our beautiful daughter has changed our lives in a really sad way! Dr Parker has changed our lives in such a positive… way! Thank you so much Dr Jason Parker, for your unbelievable compassion and your extraordinary efforts with our daughter! Thank you for being a bright spot for us in such a dark time! We grieve the loss of our baby girl, but are so thankful God put you there for us, to be there for us, and to grieve with us!

We have now had 3 children in the NICU at St. Thomas Rutherford (1 singleton and twins). Dr. Parker treated all 3 of our children. We always felt like they were in great hands and Dr. Parker always went above and beyond for our babies. He really cares about the babies there and is there encouraging the parents along the way. The NICU is a scary place for parents and he always made us feel better after talking to him. I am one of those neurotic parents that ask 500 questions and he always answered them no matter how ridiculous they were. He definitely made our NICU stay tolerable and we always felt like he was there fighting for our babies as much as we were.

Dr. Parker definitely has the bed side manner of a dr, which sometimes isn’t what people find easy to deal with.. over our stay in NICU, he was wonderful and very informative. We are so thankful for Dr. Parker and the time he took to thouroughly tend to our child when in NICU. He was very encouraging as we were discharged and made sure we felt comfortable before leaving.

I delivered my son in October 2016 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital and Dr. Parker took care of my son while he was in transition and again while in the NICU. I had a c section so I had to go to recovery and couldn't hold him immediately. While in recovery, Dr. Parker came in to my room to inform me of what was going on with my son. His oxygen levels weren't where they wanted them to be. Dr. Parker has zero bedside manner. I am a first time mom, and giving birth is a scary experience, and not fully understanding what was going on with my son was very scary. When Dr. Parker was in my room he let me know that my son was in what was called transition. He did not make me feel better about the situation at all. My husband and I were very scared. As a new mom I really needed someone to say that this was common, and that my son was going to be ok, but instead Dr. Parker did not ease my nerves at all. After my son came out of transition, he was able to come to our room for a little while… before they made the decision to bring him to the NICU for low blood sugar. Dr. Parker was still his doctor and again did not make me feel comfortable about the situation. I asked questions like how long he expected my son to be in the NICU and he answered that some babies are in for a couple days for blood sugar levels and some are in for weeks or months. With no medical background, I had no clue what to expect with his answer. I also asked what causes the problem and he asked if I had gestational diabetes, which I didn't. His response was that many moms who use alcohol or drugs while pregnant have babies with blood sugar level issues. I was appalled. Not once did I touch either while pregnant and for him to make me feel like a bad mother was uncalled for and heartbreaking. One of the days that my son was in the NICU, my husband and I went to see him at feeding time, around 10am, and he hadn't even seen my son yet that day, which was ok because it was still early, but he hadn't even seen my son at 3pm, either. It really is a shame that he is such a terrible doctor because the nurses that spend the most time with the babies are wonderful.
