Summary
William Peace, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, who specializes in treating osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. After graduating from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, he completed his orthopedic training at the University of California San Diego where he served as Chief Resident, and as a research fellow. From there, Dr. Peace completed an Adult Reconstruction (Hip and Knee replacement) Fellowship at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Alexandria, Virginia.
Dr. Peace feels it is a privilege to share his clinical knowledge and educate patients on their condition. He believes in shared decision making to develop the right treatment plan for each patient's individualized needs. Dr. Peace performs both inpatient and outpatient joint replacement surgery. For the right candidates, outpatient joint replacement surgery allows patients to return home the same day they receive surgery. Additionally, Dr. Peace specializes in the anterior approach for …hip replacement and minimally invasive total knee replacement, both of which are less invasive and can result in shorter recovery times.
In 2010 Dr. Peace joined the Colorado Air National Guard, where he serves as an Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Flight Surgeon. His years of service have allowed him to provide patient care in unconventional situations and prepared him to serve the state and country in times of crisis. He has served in several different countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Estonia, and Slovenia. Most recently he supported COVID-19 relief efforts here in Colorado in the Spring of 2020.
Having received numerous honors for his research and work, Dr. Peace has written several chapters for medical textbooks and has been published in several journals. He also speaks conversational Spanish in addition to English.
Outside of work, Dr. Peace enjoys fishing hiking, camping and skiing. Always looking to stay active, he has completed multiple half marathons!
