Dr. William Marshall Portnoy, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Portnoy since 2014 for issues with my vertigo and acid reflux. I have been extremely happy with his support, patience and treatment to enable me to overcome these issues. He is extremely thorough and if he can't find a solution doesn't hesitate to contact someone to assist in a resolution. His office staff, Luz and Jacob create a warm welcoming environment. I would definitely recommend him unconditionally.

Everything about my experience with Dr. Portnoy and his office staff has been excellent. I have been telling as many of my friends as possible about his medical/surgical ability, his great personality, his friendly bedside manner, and his supportive staff. I intend to send my entire family to Dr. Portnoy!

My Dr, Jay Weinstein referred me to Dr. William M. Portnoy for one month left side nose bleeding. As 85 year old male with COPD and no former nose exam I was very apprehensive to say the least. I called 13 Feb his staff member Jacob over rode my fears and gave me an appointment for next morning. His staff were friendly and answered your questions quickly. His offices were neat and spotless. He was informative and very persistent in trying to find my bleeding source. Dr. listened well and informed me of anything he was going to do before he did it. This prevented any surprises. Which his search turned out to be in a unusual area and was under some by glands. His search with his instruments to find an do needed repair work was without any apprehension and completely without any pain. Upon leaving I found his waiting room had filled up and I apologized to all patients for Dr.'s need and determination to locate my bleeding location. I would recommend Dr. Portnoy without any… reservations.

I have always suffered from sinus issues and repeated sinus infections. I’ve seen a myriad of medical professionals who have misdiagnosed or blindly prescribed what was thought to be the correct medications. My primary doctor was at his wits end prescribing me endless amounts of antibiotics that only proved to be a band aid to a larger problem. He finally urged me to see Dr. Portnoy. Within three visits Dr. Portnoy had a cut and dry diagnosis with a clear solution. I was suffering from a severe deviated septum, a surgical correction was my answer. Dr. Portnoy was knowledgeable and easygoing. He described the procedure and what I was to expect. Having never had a surgery before I was naturally apprehensive. His staff was so impressive, I literally just had to follow their instructions. They did battle with the insurance company, and made all the appointments for presurgical imaging and testing. They set up the surgery with a beautifully modern outpatient center at Union Square. I… simple had to show up the morning of the procedure. This surgery has changed my life. I never realized the extent of my breathing issues until after the surgery was complete . The quality of my life has been vastly improved since becoming a patient of Dr. Portnoy. I still follow Dr. Portnoy’s proprietary maintenance regime which takes me through the now hellish allergy season. Subsequent to seeing Dr. Portnoy, did I realize that several associates and a family member also received similar results from Dr. Portnoy. I have only great things to say about Dr. Portnoy and his entire staff. Anyone experiencing ear nose throat or eye issues MUST visit Dr. Portnoy for a consult, it will change your life !

I cannot thank Dr. Portnoy enough for his skilled work on a nasty laceration i suffered to my scalp and forehead last week. After being told by other surgeons that I'd be left with significant scarring, I saw Dr. Portnoy, who worked a miracle. Only 8 days out and there is already barely any evidence of what happened. I am not sure how he did it, but he worked a small miracle. He is a gifted surgeon and I am forever thankful.

I am a patient of dr Portnoy now for about a year and a half. I have never experienced a better more friendly polite staff than in his office! Besides that dr Portnoy is great to deal with. He is calm and makes you feel relaxed and knows exactly what needs to be done and gives appointments for surgery very quick so you don’t need to stress about the situation for too long ! I was very happy with Dr Portnoy. He saw me on a Thursday, immediately looked at the X-Rays and then helped schedule my closed reduction surgery for the following Monday since waiting longer makes it difficult. Met me at the hospital, was prompt, followed up after the surgery, and then again the next day. Highly recommended.

This was the worst medical experience I've had at a doctor's office. His treatment towards me was horrible. From the point when I spoke the first word, this doctor was nasty, unprofessional and utterly rude. He seemed only interested in the money my insurance would pay him, wanted me to do the septic deviation surgery and did not want to dedicate the time to explain my condition. When I asked him questions about my cat-scan he cut me short, said he had already dedicated enough time to me (not even 5 minutes!) I'm not going to let this doctor touch me, his nasty behavior and lack of concern to me as a patient demonstrates he doesn't care about my health condition. What he demonstrated to me as a patient is that he doesn't like to have any Latina patients. What kind of doctor is this???
