Dr. William Lewis Read III, MD

Rarely do you find a doctor who can switch appropriately between humor and seriousness, but Dr Read manages to flow effortlessly between the two. He's not afraid to crack a joke when he knows the patient will receive it well, but his amazing bedside manner also allows him to be informative and truthful. He makes sure everyone in the room understands what is going on, takes time to answer questions, and opens himself up to feedback. When treating my terminally ill mother, he knew the end was imminent but never gave up on her. Instead, he kept the lines of communication constantly open and even contacted us while he was supposed to be on vacation, because he was thinking about her and her case and wanted to run a few treatment options by us. This showed us that not only is he a forward thinker, but his patients and their best interests are always on his mind and in his heart, even when he steps out of the hospital. Dr Read knew my mom's life couldn't be spared, but he fought with… all he had alongside her, using his expertise and hilarious personality to fight with her until the very end. He never wrote her off. Instead, he was always there to say "This treatment isn't working, so let's try this. And if that doesn't work, we'll try this." In the end, Dr Read was a critical factor in my mom's 6-9 month prognosis being extended to almost 6 YEARS of a VERY full and active life. He's an incredible doctor with an amazing wit and a heart of gold. Those things are so rare, and I will forever be grateful for having him as a part of our lives and my mother's journey.

This Dr. is fantastic he knows his stuff and spends lots of time with you hev answers all of your questions and explains it where a 5 year old could underdstand. The best doctor I hsve ever seen. I knew more about my cancer in 20 min.talking to him than i did with 3 visits with my other 3 doctors. He holds nothing back but expains what you need sndvhow he will approach it.
