Dr. William E Rivers, DO

This guy is an arrogant braggart. Instead of listening all he did was tell me how he has seen it all while he was doing his fellowship in Chicago. Warning, if you are dealing with disability insurance avoid this so called expert like the plague. He flat out told me that he hates dealing with disability insurance and if it were up to him he would not give disability benefits to anyone because everyone can do something to make a living. This guy needs to leave his ivory tower and live with the real people for a while. I will never go back to see this guy again. Don't do any of us ignorant New Mexicans a favor. Go back to Chicago.

So my former neurosurgeon was neurosurgeon of the year, tons of awards, published, nationally recognized and now I’m stuck with a 3rd rate doctor in a 5th rate hospital who says things like... well I’m sure there are other doctors who would try treatments I won’t. Well, you won’t try those treatments because you are not really skilled enough or educated enough.

In New York I had the top doctors in the nation. Here this guy. First visit and there's a dead roach on the examination room floor. New Mexico, never fails to show it's the 3rd world. Dr. Rivers is a doctor just phoning it in. He’s not invested in his patients, he’s nit knowledgeable in the latest treatments for either chronic pain or spine care. He never reviewed my medical records and prescribed a medication that had previously failed twice. When I mentioned suicidial thoughts he shrugged it off. New Mexico is a medical desert with very few quality providers. UNMH national ranking is abysmal particularly their neuroscience department.

After dealing with intense sacroiliac pain due to severe childbirth injury for over 39 years, I was referred to Dr. Rivers. His doctor/patient communication skills are excellent, as are his medical knowledge and skills. I get fluoroscopy-guided local injections 2-3 times per year and get 95% relief. What a Godsend!

I have been seeing Dr. Rivers for cervical ablations and have found him to be a wonderful physician. I would, and have, highly recommend him to family and friends.

He is the best Dr. that I have every gone to see. He is kind,considerate, and very pleasant. He has a way of making a patient feel comfortable and relaxed. I have had two nerve ablations by him. Although, they are very painful,he and his staff put me at ease during the procedure. The first nerve ablation lasted 18 months and I recently had another one. I presently have no back pain. YES, I would recommend him!!

He can't remember what he said from one visit to the next. He's very confrontational and rude. Both possibly a result of overbooking.
