Dr. William Koonce Robinson, MD

I first used Dr. Robinson as my primary care physician in the mid 1980's. I moved out of Columbia in 1998 and returned in 2013 and went back to using him. He is a very caring and compassionate man but after many years of seeing him, I have come to the realization that he has some short comings. Now, in my old age, I see that he, as well as other physicians afterwards, failed to properly understand my condition, minimized its long term implications and failed to properly advise me, and my life has been adversely affected by it. I am not currently with him and will not again. In one of the last times I saw him, he send me to see an specialist who said, "That's not your problem. Your problem is this." Who then sent me to see someone else.

Dr. Robinson is an excellent Dr. as is expressed in the other reviews. He is now with another group: Agape Physicians Care(803/451-6133). They are now instituting "Concierge Care" in which various provisions traditionally expected of a Dr. are identified, split up into different levels, & have prices for each level. You then pay from $100 to $2000 annually for the level you want. As far as I can determine from the 2 p letter they sent out, the whole deal is to allow their Drs. to see fewer patients & still get paid the same amount of money; somehow this is good for you! The letter "explains" this. If you call them I'm sure they will send info to you including a brochure showing what you receive at each level [You can see the Dr. w/i 2-3 days at one level(not for $100!); that day for another; you get to communicate with medical personnel on the internet at one[no, not the $100 level], on the phone at another; & etc. At the $100 level you get nothing but shorter waiting times,… supposedly because fewer patients are seen). If this Concierge Care sounds asinine to you-or if your $ is tight, you might look elsewhere. If $2000 is of small significance, then you will be getting a very good Dr. for your money.

I first used him in 1983/4. I stayed with him until 1998, when I moved out of town. I just moved back to Columbia (2013), and he is again my doctor. I see no reason to go elsewhere. By comparison to the other general practitioners and internal medicine specialists that I have used during my life, he is by far the best. I have no complaints.

Dr. Robinson is a physician who is willing to work with his patients rather than simply telling them what he believes they must do. He listens and genuinely cares about their concerns. Good doctor!
