I have been seeing Dr. Sandborn and his NPs to treat my Crohn's disease since he started with UCSD. I actually travel 2 1/2 hours to see him! He is extremely knowledgeable about IBD (has done a LOT of the cutting-edge research in this field) and he is compassionate, kind and fully competent. Angelina Collins, NP is also so kind and intelligent. I have tried several different medications and the current ones have kept my CD well controlled. I have utter confidence that I am receiving the best GI care possible.

My son has been suffering from serious GI issues for the last 30 years. As he’s gotten older, he gotten progressively worse. There has been dozens of diagnoses from dozens of doctors, including those at Stanford. We met with Dr Sandborn today, and for the first time we feel hopeful. He was professional, courteous, kind, he carefully listened to us and answered our questions, and above all he was brilliant with his expertise. He came up with two possible rare dieseases that will now be tested for, its gives us a direction and hope that maybe someday my son can be pain free.

I have had some of the worst experiences with gastroenterologists you could ever possibly imagine. I was diagnosed at 15 and since then I have had inattentive and poor care. I have had surgery and doctors who are just not informed. Nothing could be further from the truth about Dr. Sandborn. He knows what he is talking about. He genuinely cares about his patients and about having individualized care. He listens to my concerns and answers all of my questions with an incredible patience. He tends to run late to appointments but he will spend sometimes at least an hour with me. I could not love him or his nurse practitioner more. He truly has changed my life. For the first time since being diagnosed I am in remission. His office is not the easiest to get in touch with, but they are by far and wide the best for IBD.

I came from out of state because the hospitals where I was located told me that there was nothing left that they could do for me. I had an ileostricture , multiple fistulas, and had already had multiple surgeries. Dr. Sandborn agreed to see me and put together an allstar team that literally changed my life. I'm healthy again, able to go to work and there could never thank him and my entire team of physicians down there enough . They are the best of the best.

I was bless to see the number one GI Doctor in the world. Thank you Dr. Sandborn for your dedication to find the cure for IBD.

Abel to get a new patient appointment quickly. Spent time with resident but also Dr Sandborn spent all the time I needed. Accurate diagnosis, clear treatment plan and I feel much better. Recommend him highly!

Be forewarned, this doctor is very difficult to access and most of your care will be provided by a very inexperienced staff. While I found him to be a skilled diagnostician and would recommend him for a consult, he is poor at follow-up and appears impatient, lacking in genuine caring or compassion. I've been told by both UCSD staff and patient he "runs hot and cold"and follows some patients while neglecting others, basically leaving their care to nurses. This is beyond their scope of practice, mutually frustrating and scary! Shop around.

Complete disregard for any issues with medications, issues concerning procedures and lack of knowledge on Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth but he claimed he had "lots of options" and he only had ONE AND ONE ONLY and since it caused a severe reaction I am out of luck so sad too bad thanks for the 45k worth of useless tests and I clearly stated from day one it was an infection but he knew better and needed more data. Let me suffer more than three weeks without antibiotics after the breath test as I begged and pleaded for help as my gut was out of control
