Dr. William F Schmalz, MD

Did not listen to concerns, staring at phone during entire visit. Did not look me in the eye . This doctor is definitely On the spectrum ??

Dr. Schmalz is really just not very good. No eye contact, ever. Does not explain anything well, does not answer questions well, and during my last visit spent the entire time clicking away on the tablet computer rather than actually examining me. I wish that was an exaggeration. As a last resort/urgent care type doctor, sure, go for it. Any other time, find someone else. The positive: the office is very convenient so you can drop in any time if you're not feeling well. That's it for positives.

he doesnot belive in giving antibotics to his patients; Even when they suffering from a bad sore throat and an earache; one one occasion i had a ba cough and fever he still wont give me a antobotics the next day i went into bronchitis,and these people are senior citzens who have poor imunity systems ii think he wants to have his own way; i think he is not a good doctor

Once I finally got in to see the doctor he was very proficient in helping solve my chronic cough. I was impressed with his thoroughness.

He thought I had bladder cancer and I had an irregular period. Need I say more?

In the interest of full disclosure I not a big fan of doctors. That being said Dr. Schmalz actually knows what he is doing and takes the time to accurately assess me and listen to my concern. Most doctors (in my experience) hardly look at you before jumping to the next patient. I have learned a lot from Dr Schmalz about physical assessment which has helped me immensely as a nursing student! I would recommend him to anyone and am trying to convince my mom to ditch her own doctor and see Dr. Schmalz. He looks at his patients, listens to their concerns, and he thinks. Remarkable!

From this day on, I will see any other doctor at First Care but I REFUSE to see this dimwit again.

I went to First Care Medical Group in Lydnhurst, NJ on a Saturday as a walk-in (They don't take appts on weekends). I had very dry nostrils, a severely dry, painful sore throat and a mild fever. I went to the doctor because after using a humidifier, a neti-pot once a day, and drinking more than my usual amount of water, I was feeling worse. After seeing Schmalz, I left there with no ease. He didn't give me a thing. Wrote a script for an anti-inflammatory (which I had been taking already) and even talked me out of seeing an allergist. When I asked if he'd run bloodwork, he said no because I hadn't fasted. When I told him I had, he then said the lab was closed. As a lab professional, I was pretty disgusted with his lack of knowledge and his quick dismissal. The nurse had the good sense to at least swab my throat for a culture. So here I am with difficulty swallowing and my nostrils on fire. No relief after going to the "MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL" called William Schmalz. I wish I… had gotten to see the P.A. instead...at least she went to a P.A. program in the U.S.A.
