He's most professional doc ever met

Dr. Schweizer is fantastic. I hadn't seen him in some time because I was on a different insurance... I called a few weeks ago to schedule an appointment. The staff is terrible. I was only hold for five minutes. I usually judge a practice by how I'm treated on the phone and in the office so typically that's a deal breaker for me. I was told Dr. Schweizer wouldn't be available for some time and that I could see another doctor. But Dr. Schweizer isn't on the website anymore. Great doctor.

I moved to NJ in 2000 and other than my family I only miss Dr. Schweizer. He delivered my first and third child. He was away when I unfortunately delivered my second child prematurely, yet he visited my newborn in the NICU when he returned. He is one of the nicest, most caring doctors I've ever met. He has a pleasant demeanor and a sharp wit. He always made sure to explain every aspect of my gynecological care and took exceptional care of me during my normal and high risk pregnancies. My children are now 21, 19 and 17 and all three of them know fully well what Dr. Schweizer meant to me.

He delivered my 1st child when he wasn't even my doctor. He was amazingly patient and explained everything and his concerns while I was in labor (since it ended in a c-section). My recovery was terrific, He's a great surgeon. For my 2nd child, he was my OB but wasn't on duty to deliver me (another practice member was). However, he came by to check on me periodically while I waited and was very calm and reassuring. For my 3rd child, I'm more high risk. He's been amazing. He's even coming in on his day off to do my c-section. When people say that he answers with "everything's fine" it's because everything IS fine. He'll let you know when you have cause for alarm. I like that he's laid back. It reflects his competency and his years of experience in seeing hundreds of pregnancies. I even had an ectopic pregnancy once that I was treated for and he seemed more upset about it than I was - in terms of his empathy for the fact that I had to terminate it. Bottom line, he's… absolutely competent and I can't imagine anyone else delivering my baby. He's always answered my questions and addressed any concerns. He'll tell you the risks and the odds for those risks as well. He's laid back and has a happy demeanor. People just don't realize that in a normal pregnancy, there's just not that much the doc needs to do at the appointment... that doesn't mean he doesn't care!

Dr. Schweizer is a good doctor and one that has a great reputation among the NYC OBGYN and NYU communities. That said, his staff at his new office are quite bad. The nurses are rude and you are often you are not phoned with your results--you have to call in--even though you are told that you will be called. And when you call in, you are made to feel like you are a bother. If you are expecting to be received or treated by courteous staff don't expect much. It is too bad since he is such a good caring doctor. Note that this review is for his new office location 150 East 32nd.

Dr. Schweitzer delivered our first child. She arrived unexpectedly early, which would make any expectant mother nervous, to say the least. From the time that I was admitted to the hospital to the time our daughter arrived, he never left the hospital. His calm and reassuring demeanor instilled a sense of confidence in both my husband I and we knew that he would make the all the right decisions for both me and our child. I am sure that most OBGYN's would say that they are just doing their job, bringing new life into the world, but for the people whose baby's arrive safely and healthy, we owe them such a debt of gratitude. I have thanked Dr. Schweitzer many times for delivering our daughter to us without incident, when it could have gone differently so easily, but I am certain that his humility would never allow him to fully grasp the magnitude of his contribution to the lives of so many. Once again, thank you Dr. Schweitzer. We were so lucky to have found you.

I am having my first child and dr. Schweizer is my OB. At the first appointment, he took his time to talk with me. After that, he always seemed to be in a rush, you don't get any information (really nothing, not even your weight gain or blood pressure). If you ask for information, he tells you, in a very condescending manner, that you are just doing fine. While some people may find this reassuring, he gives me the impression not to care about my (baby's) health. In fact, I asked for a second opinion once to a friend MD for an abnormal blood result, who could explain this to me, while dr. Schweizer did not even make any effort to try figuring this out and explain to me. He fails to addresses the concerns I have on the health of my baby, which makes me feel very worried. I wish I had chosen another OB, but unfortunately I am too far in my pregnancy to switch to another one.

There aren't enough words to describe what a wonderful doctor he is. I went through 2 high risk pregnancies and I never worried because he took such tremendous care of me and my (unborn) children. He is patient, knowledgeable and extremely caring. He performed 2 c-sections on me and I had basically no pain afterward and I attribute that to his skill as a surgeon. I highly recommend him.

I saw Dr. Schweizer with a problem that no has been able to adequately deal with. He listened, was caring, examined me and ordered tests. Surgery and other options were discussed. The surgical procedure went smoothly and now 2 weeks later I am feeling great and back to work. Thanks to him.

My experience with Dr. Schweizer was superb. I came to him for a second opinion when I had vaginal bleeding. He examined me and explained the various potential problems. I has an ultrasound. This confirmed a fibroid. He removed the fibroid at NYU and now my cycles are back to normal. He was thorough with me and dealt well with my nervous husband.
