Dr. William Henry Simon, MD

I went to William Simon July 28th to be seen for severe, unwalkable pain in the left foot. I told William Simon Id been to nerve doctors, vascular doctors, and even had an ultrasound on the left foot. Although the nerve tech said no nerve damage, the ultrasound tech found a bulge and “cyst” on ultrasound and found valves not opening/closing properly. Vascular doctor told me to go back to the podiatrist. That is why I found William Simon again. He is the one that told me 5 years ago that the hardware the podiatrist used to put in my foot after my left foot bunionectomy was too large and needed to come out. He proved this with an X-ray he took. He also stated he would have to charge me if he did took the hardware out. So I went back to Dr Lisa Grant who took out the hardware and who performed the bunionectomy to begin with. Fast forward, present day, July 28th, I saw William Simon briefly and had a pleasant conversation,but he did say he did not know why I’d be in pain. I asked if there… was a way to be sure, and he agreed to order an MRI of my left foot. The front desk told me someone from central scheduling with Sentara should reach out in a couple days and no one did. I called multiple times following up with the front desk. I patched the scheduling department with Sentara in with this doctors office and the scheduling department advised to mark the order STAT. This doctors office and William Simon never did. After more attempts at calling, the scheduling department with Sentara said they have the order but it listed the wrong “body part.” They could not give me an appointment unless William Simons’ office fixed it. Another two weeks go by before they fixed it. In total, I spent over 6 weeks waiting to have an MRI scheduled. The day of the MRI, the nurse still said it was the wrong order, and they were only going to order the part of the foot it listed on the MRI. I told them I had to call the doctors office again to have it fixed. I was on the phone with William Simons office when the nurse walked back in and said they found an updated order. Meanwhile, Im on the phone with William Simons front desk manager after initially being hung up on. I expressed how upset and disappointing the whole process had been. I had to have the MRI rescheduled again and finally had it done September 11. July 28th was when I was originally seen by this guy. And September 11 is when I finally got my MRI. The results came back within a day. I have high grade tears and severe swelling and ligament tears/issues requiring surgery and I have no doctor to read the report or even explain it to me because the day before the MRI, I received a certified letter that came to my home saying the “patient doctor relationship” had deteriorated and that I need to find care somewhere else. Meanwhile, I am suffering thru a high grade tear of my ligaments and still trying to walk and balance on the foot. No words were ever exchanged negatively between this doctor and myself. I asked the front desk almost every time I called if this doctor would call me, so I could tell him what was going on. They said they would relay the message. This doctor stopped my care at a critical period in my care, requiring surgery. I’ve called numerous other podiatrists and ortho surgeons in the area, some even 120 miles away…all have appointments towards the end of the year to even be seen for consult. Sentara Healthcare Ortho scheduler in VirginiaBeach refused to schedule me an appointment, saying they first had to clear it with their doctors since I was already seen by William Simon. I am filing a grievance for patient abandonment and patient neglect. The MRI order should not have taken 2 months to get itself into scheduling hands. The back and forth, being hung up on, never having the doctor return my complaints, and zero consideration for my pain and problem, only to be told William Simon refuses to further treat by certified letter is why I would like to file a grievance. I did file

Dr. Simon is a good foot doctor, but unfortunately patient administration is subpar. I saw Dr. Simon for foot issues and he prescribed a maintenance medication. I needed the prescription transferred to a recurring maintenance delivery plan pursuant to my insurance company, but after several attempts, I was never able to get the practice to do so no matter how many times I called. Then, when my maintenance medication reached its anniversary, Dr. Simon rejected the refill claiming he was not a primary care doctor. Meanwhile, I was out of the medication and no one bothered to tell me that the Dr. had rejected the prescription the week before. So now I am scrambling to try to get a new prescription with no assistance from the Dr. that actually treated me. Unfortunately, technical expertise does not compensate for poor service. Will not return to this Dr.

Pre-op, surgery and post-op was a great experience. Dr Simon showed me my x-rays and explained the procedure. Very professional.
