Dr. William Paul Stamey, MD

Excellent care! Explains everything clearly, welcomes having advocate, never rushes appt. great bedside manner. Highly recommend Dr. Stamey.

I had scheduled an appointment for two days hence and showed up on time with my husband as my advocate to remember what I can’t about what I need to tell the doctor and what the doctor tells me. My memory is not very good any more and is getting worse. Covid restrictions meant doctor approval was required for the second person. I said that he must go with me and had been into all other specialist appointments. I said it had been allowed before. The nurse said there was nothing in the file about memory problems (there would have been). Stamey said ‘not today, maybe next time.’ My husband insisted tthat either he goes in with me or I come out. They told him to leave or they would call security. He said, call . No one came. When Stamey came into my evaluation – thirty minutes late – he told me to ‘get out, no appointment today’. Then he said that my friend was threatening people in the waiting room. I knew that was not true. Stamey told me again that I had no appointment and to get… out!! The lady at the desk – the only decent, professional one there – asked if I wanted another appointment. No. I will never go there again. You shouldn’t either.

I see Dr Stamey for myoclonus, a motion disorder which causes involuntary jerks in my legs and arms. I find Dr Stamey to be extremely knowledgable and helpful. Since seeing him I've been able to get off of Depakote, which has a lot of side effects, and onto less harmful meds. It takes two hours for me to get to Brunswick but I'm willing to make the drive to get the help I need, and I feel that I get that from Sr Stamey.

I've been seeing him for Parkinson's disease for several years. He has always explained things very thoroughly and listened to my questions. I've never timed an appointment exactly, but I think he typically spends around half an hour talking with me. I like him a lot. (As they say, your mileage may vary....)

Very rude to my elderly dad and we left after 5 minutes. As a doctor you need to learn how to talk to people and not disrespect them

OUTSTANDING IN KNOWLEDGE OF PARKINSON'S, EXPLAINING POSSIBILITIES, AND LISTENING.

I brought an advocate with me because I have been so sick I didn't trust myself to remember what he said. She later said that he was really unkind to me. He prescribed, without ANY diagnosis, a drug that the complete package information stated that he should NOT have prescribed because I have depression - and the drug I take is on my list of medications, if he had cared to look before he prescribed anything - , and it was for 3 conditions, none of which I had or had described. In addition, he did some reflex testing, and when I cried out in pain at one of them, he said "What was that all about?" I was taken aback, but only answered "it hurt." He said, "Why?" I said nothing because I was shocked, but, isn't that why we go to doctors? To find out WHY? PLEASE don't risk getting the wrong drugs or no diagnosis - find someone else.

This doctor is all about making money, very arrogant and rude. Does not listen. I've been to a lot of neuro's, he is one of the worst I've been to.

He dropped my dad as a patient. Thanks for nothing. Had one of his underlings (office staff) do the dirty work.

His diagnosis is specific and thorough as are his explanations.
