Dr. William Harold Thom, MD

I have a degenerative cervical and spinal disease. I first went there about 6 weeks ago and spoke with a nurse practitioner Rachel she was very understanding of my condition and made an appointment for me to see Dr Thom. I went in the next week for shots in my neck because pain shot down both arms and I could not move my right arm without it causing excruciating pain. This young Doctor came in and spoke with me for at least 15 minutes explaining what was going to happen. I could tell that he knew I was very uneasy about what was going on. He made sure I was comfortable before proceeding. His nurse stayed by my side and assured me everything was good. They both kept talking to me to make sure I was ok. It was a very pleasant experience. Considering I am a 62 year old baby when it comes to needles. Thank you Dr Thom, Rachel and the nurse that stayed by my side.

I was regularly going to Synergy for monthly pain management visits to a very good nurse practitioner, Rachel Heft due to injuries to disc in my cervical and lumbar back regions but little did I know it would be a mistake and lead to the end of the road for me being treated there by mentioning that a painful ganglion cyst had grown back in my hand between my ring and middle fingers. I’d had this cyst removed years ago by a plastic surgeon, twice. It kept growing back. The last time it grew back a previous pain management office (APG) treated it, about 1-2 years ago or so. When I moved from APG to Synergy, my records including those about the procedure that was done to my hand/ cyst, were also transferred there too. An appointment was made for my hand with Dr Thom. The day I arrived I was told I didn’t need to sign in or fill out any paperwork like I normally did whenever I came for my pain management visits. Just have a seat. After 20 min a young attendant took me to a surgical room.… There was another person in the room who appeared to be working with some bottles and syringes at the counter. Thus far no one has spoken to me about anything, so I asked the attendant what the plan was for my hand? Did they planned to retake X-rays or ultrasound scans of my hand? She said, ‘I have your file here and I’m reviewing it now.’ So after another minute she left the room. Next thing I knew she came back in along with a couple other people including the office manager/Brandy and suddenly Dr Thom enters the room from a different doorway and he was yelling at me. I turned and looked and he was screaming down at me while I’m sitting there and asking me why I was wasting their time? I said I wasn’t. I only asked what the plan was for my hand. He asked me if I hadn’t asked my pain management nurse to get me help with my hand/cyst. I said yes but I would like to know how it was going to be handled. Dr Thom was yelling whole time he talked to me. He never answered any of my questioned. He screamed that I’d already wasted 15 minutes of his time...now let’s go!! I said wait a minute now I only asked couple simple questions. What’s the matter? He said, ‘just get your things together and get out of my office.’ ‘I said ok, I’ll leave, I can get my hand treated elsewhere but what about my pain management visits? He’s walking away into and on through the surgery room next door but yelling back to me to just get out, get out of his office. Everybody else on his staff were all standing their like statues, scared to make a sound until he was gone. I asked the young attendant what was it she said to him when she left out of the room? She didn’t reply. So his office manager, Brandy walks me back to front waiting room so I can get to the elevator. She says, let him calm down and I’ll call you Monday about your pain management appointments. She never called. I called them on Thursday. She returned my called and told me I was getting a letter denying me access to their services. She said Dr Thom was told that I refused to give my birthdate to the attendant. I told her that was a lie. Why wouldn’t I give that info, I’d just been in there a couple weeks ago and filled out a whole slew of paperwork on my first pain management appointment of the new year/2019. She said I’d have to find a new pain management office. That’s very inconvenient for me since I take narcotic pain medication. Now I have to hurry and find another doctor to continue prescribing my medication that I’ve been taking since 2010 when disc in my neck were crushed. Dr Thom has put me in a serious situation just because he wants to pop off and be an arrogant jerk.

Him and his staff are about as warm as a 3 day old corpse. No compassion, arrogant and presumptuous. Worst experience ever with a doctor. In fact, so bad I'm avoid doctors for a while until I can get over my tramua caused there.

Nurses need to be more patient with client, we are in pain and cannot move or get around as fast as they would like.

I have had pain for years and a friend told me about APG. I was tired of needles and what I liked about the entire experience was how they use physical therapy along with pain mgt to help me get back to normal. Thank you APG and Dr Thom! Very nice PT folks too!

Worst pain I have ever experienced. When burning a nerve in my neck I received no sedation at all and left with no pain medicine at all. I was in severe pain for a month. This Dr. has zero compassion for pain. He also was suppose to do just the right side and started off sticking my left which now has irritated that nerve to point of needing a procedure too. I was given no apology for the mistake and blown off as a complainer. I now have a new doctor that does not do procedures unless sedation is used and it's great. Would not recommend anyone to use this barbaric, careless Dr. There are better one out there, you deserve better than this self centered one.

I would have given him a rating less than 1 star if that was an option. He is labled as a pain management dr but must never have had pain himself. I have 2 buldging disks and another that is ruptured and was told to take 800 mg ibuprofin 4x daily . that was in addition to 2 norco 5-325 4x a day . when i questioned that amount of tylonal and advil on my liver the called me a drug seeker. i now have another dr that has my pain under control without narcotics and its great. So much for being a drug seeker and i dont worry about the toll pills take on my liver.

Dr. Thom and his staff are fantastic! They communicate procedures and answer all questions completely. I am so glad I went to them for my back pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Thom to anyone!

Was very impressed with the professional atmosphere in the office. Dr. Thom listened and explained everything in detail of what was going to be done to get me out of pain. He was able to get me out of pain! Thank you very much APG and Dr. Thom. I would highly recommend to anyone.

For at least the last 10 years of my adult life I have had excruciating pain in both of my knees. I've tried many, many pain relief procedures/creams and none of them have worked (ever.) Earlier this year I was told by a friend who had attended a seminar that the "alternative to knee replacement" program at Associated Physicians Group worked for her. I made the appointment and began the treatment. I can't say enough for the care and compassion that I received from Dr. Thom and EVERY staff member. I finished the program about 6 weeks ago and have to say that I can now do things I haven't done for years including attending almost all of both of my grand children's baseball games this summer. After completing the program I still had a little knee pain, but they discovered that it was a knee bursae problem and they took care of that pain as well. In closing, I have to thank Dr. Thom and his staff for the time they spent with me. They are extremely knowledgeable about pain management and… physical therapy. They are compassionate, and they have returned me to a quality of life that I had forgotten was even a part of my life. I would recommend Dr. Thom to everyone.
