Dr. William D Titus

When Dr. Titus completed his hospital residency, he returned to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania to establish a practice in 1993.  He practiced for 3-1/2 years in Scranton before answering an invitation by the United States Navy to accept a commission in the Dental Corps.
In April of 1996, Dr. Titus swore into the Navy at the rank of Lieutenant.  He completed Officer's Indoctrination School at Newport, R.I., where he was made Company Commander. By June of that same year, he reported to the JFK in Mayport, Florida.  He was made Dental Division Officer on board the carrier and spent the next two years of his naval career here.  After completion of two years with multiple underway periods and a six month Mediterranean and Persian gulf cruise, he left the JFK to accept a billet at Naval Hospital JAX, located at Naval Air Station Jacksonville.   There he also served as Division Officer--rendering dental care for the Naval members who served as Hospital Personnel.  He was promoted to …Lieutenant Commander at this duty station, and earned his Florida dental licensure.
After three and one-half years of service, Dr. Titus separated from active duty in late 1999 and accepted a position with Smilecare Dental Associates of Jacksonville, Florida in early 2000, where he staffed the corporation's Northside office located on Dunn Avenue.  After 5 years of employment with Smilecare Dental Associates, Dr. Titus returned to private solo practice after purchasing the practice of Dr. Parker Shaffer in Callahan, Florida where he practices today.
Dr. Titus's dental philosophy centers around prevention and patient education.  New patients will quickly see that he spends ample time to make sure that patients know what dental pathology is present, what treatment options are available, what the pros and cons of each treatment are and what consequences might be wrought should the condition go untreated.  Regular screening for cavities, periodontitis, oral cancer and other pathologies are conducted at annual examinations.  Pit and fissure sealants, prescription fluoride, preventive resin restorations and other modalities are routinely used as preventive measure for our patients.
