rude, dismissive, disrespectful, insulting and refuses to answer reasonable questions

Dr Utz is a no nonsense doctor that made sure we understood what my husbands prostate cancer diagnosis meant and what our options were. He talked to us on our level, turning his chair to face us and looking us in the eye as he answered every single question. He was thorough and didn't hurry any of our appointments. Yes, he was sometimes late for our appointment but we knew he was treating other patients just like he treated us. Surgery went without a hitch and when I had a question after we got home, Dr Utz called me himself to talk about it. He has been excellent all through our ordeal as well as his staff. We have felt cared for and well informed throughout.

Met with doctor and he reviewed my concern and decided to do cystoscopy.. At the end of the appointment he noted his observation confirmed I needed an operation for enlarged prostate.. He gave me a card to stop and see his receptionist to make an appointment> he had a clod and did not shake hands, I recived no warning of possible infections potential from the autoclaved scope. In 2 days right befopre a weekend I cam down with flu like symptoms and dizziness,chills along with coordination issues and heavy cold feeling. I called my pharmacist to see if it was a med side effect and the confirmed it was not. I went home and slept for 3-4 days and got a little better and then 2 days later I had a relapse and called my primary and explained the symptoms and they immediately said I should come in .I had septis infection that can occur from scope. I called Dr. Utz office in am and it took 3 hours for them to return my call. I asked if it might be due to the procedure and did not get any… clarity. Then I asked if it was a "freak : occurenence so I could judge if I wanted to continue with them. She finally said in a phone call later it might have been due to scope but they don't give antibiotics proactively anymore due to them losing their effectiveness if over-prescribed. I asked if the shouldn't be warning people of the possibility. No response. I checked online and found studies showing that 2% of people can develop these symptoms. I thern cancelled my surgery and checked other doctor and his website and papers warned of this possibility and were much more proactive and patient centered..This study is on the NIHealth website. I then attempted to lodge a complaint with Medica and explained it was being offered only to offer feedback on how Dr. Utz could improve the process.They offered to take my complaint and then wanted me to talk with him. At that time I was so upset with poor response to my earlier calls I declined. I instead sent a letter to my primary doctor so he would know about future referrals. I plan to send a copy of this letter to Dr Utz to help others after my surgery was completed.

The dreaded words...you have cancer! My first doctor was a good doctor, but I felt that if down the road I needed to have my prostate removed, I wanted only the best. After researching doctors who specialize in Prostate Cancer in Minnesota, I decided to call Dr. Utz. Am I glad I did. He truly is one of the most skilled doctors, but also listened to me, spending an hour with me, validating my concerns, and gave me the confidence and hope I needed, as I proceed on this cancer journey. Loved his warm personality and "bed side manner!" He might be booked a few month out, but don't despair. All the best doctors will be busy. I was lucky enough to be called early due to a cancellation. I highly recommend Dr. Utz. (His office nurse is the best, too!)

Had seeds put in for prostate cancer and did not have an appointment for follow up. I could only see his nurse or his aids. Took me three weeks of suffering to get to see him. He seemed like a great guy before the procedure, but I just think he likes the money and forgers about you. NEVER again with him

Runs late yet states he refuses to say no when called upon by othersâ?¦. I noticed he doesn't look at his watch or stand by the door.
