I have been seeing Dr. Walkup since I voluntarily committed myself to Richland Springs around 7 years ago. I was impressed that Dr. Walkup listened to my personal problems and did not shy away from them. If he can he will suggest an opinion but never tells you what to do. If he cannot help he will tell you that a therapist could help more. He lets you explain your symptoms and is not judgemental. I like that he seems modest and is quiet spoken. After being around loud, abusive parents he is a sane relief!

Dr Walkup is very easy person to openly talk with in all aspects of my care. He is quiet soft spoken caring doctor, which is very rare. He is understanding of medication reactions and helping to find the best medications to work for me as an individual person. Excellent beside manner..... ***** 5 Star Psychiatrist for sure :)

Dr. Walkup has provided the best psychiatric care I have ever received in relation to my chronic depression. He is a quiet, thoughtful person and excellent provider. He listens carefully to how medications are or are not working for you and will make changes to find the best option. Previously I have gone to psychiatrists solely to prescribe medications while going to a psychologist for talk therapy. I have never felt that the psychiatrists strove to understand my personal history or therapy beyond the drug aspect. Dr. Walkup does. He supports an integrated approach to therapy, listening to input from therapists and adding his expertise. This approach has changed my ability to successfully cope with my illness after a 30 year struggle with depression.

Very caring and passoniate toward my issues, listens and seems very understanding to my needs.

after being fraudulently committed to Richland Springs, supposedly under Dr. Walkup's care, Dr. Walkup never even showed up. He sent a replacement 72 hours after the admission, thereby negating my civil rights and due process.A HORRIBLE and HARMFUL PSYCHIATRIST
