Dr. William Palmer Westmoreland

Dr. Westmoreland is a dream dentist because he takes the time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and reassure you about any decisions made. This was especially important for me since I have had terrible experiences at the dentist (some life-threatening). I first met Dr. Westmoreland at one of the free clinics in Augusta where he gives his time on Fridays. I had a painful cavity that I wanted to have extracted because I could not afford the endodontic work needed to save it. Dr. Westmoreland felt very strongly about saving the tooth and talked with my about other options to save the tooth that would fit my budget (other dentists had told me there were no other options). In the end, he recommended I have a pulpectomy until my dental insurance would pay for the more extensive work. I visited him at his office the following week to be reassured about the procedure - I was extremely worried about the pain since he doesn't use sedation. However, there was no need to fear! By… the next Monday I was pain/infection free and still had my natural tooth! (The numbing medicine and injections - which I didn't feel because of the former - worked wonders.) His staff was extremely helpful and attentive to my concerns as well! They truly care about making dental health affordable for all.

Prior to the visit with Dr. Westmoreland (if you want to call him that) The most a Dentist told me about my upper teeth was I needed fillings. That's all I wanted done. Being a new patient & prior to the exam, He ask me a lot of rude nosy questions, 1st Quest. Where are you from. What difference does it make? Does he ask every patient that quest.? The exam was very pushy & rough & I hated it. After the exam, He said by the way your teeth look, they look like someone who takes & uses drugs. My mouth fell open. I'm a older respectful proper lady. I said, Well I can assure you, I don't use drugs, never have, never will. Then he said your teeth are too bad & they all need to be pulled & I won't work on them. Really they're not that bad & never heard that before. I was so distraught & discouraged, I went back over to my last Dentist made a appt. to get the fillings taken care of. I thought I wanted another opinion but wasn't expecting to be treated sooo rudely & badly. Even his assistant… was rude & told me to sit down that she had other patients to see. What a wack! The bedside manners need work here. Yuck!

I had a wonderful experience. Dr. Westmorland and his whole staff was wonderful. I was greeted with similes and personable receptionist. I came in a little apprehensive, considering I hadn't been to the dentist in years. Also I had a cracked tooth. They made me feel at ease and very comfortable. He was very care through out the whole procedure. I would definitely recommend Dr. Westmoreland to everyone.
